The world of web stars and web series changes quicker than Atlanta weather! One day we are happy to announce there is new web series to debut or a new web star to meet, and then on other days a web star is announcing his departure.

This time, unfortunately, it is the latter as Tripp Ali, host of The Plug and star of Tex Brown, has announced he and Signal 23 Tv are parting ways!

The news of Tripp’s departure was made known via an ominous Instagram post where he announced that today he was parting ways with Signal 23 TV.

His departure from the network comes as a surprise to many as his show has undoubtedly been one of the network’s biggest successes due to its content, grit, and the combined talent of Tripp Ali and Henderson Maddox. In recent months Mr. Ali he had even become of the faces, alongside Gary Lavard and Lando King, of the network and a highly anticipated tour, The Kings of Stream, has been in the works.

Naturally, we had to get a more in depth from Tripp about his departure. He sent this response:

tripp ali

Tripp Ali

I am an entertainer and when my craft is no longer respected or honored I need to move on. Entertainers must always be true to their craft and never allow themselves to be placed in an unfair contract or situation that goes beyond the realm of professionalism and decency. Continue to sign on to “The Plug” @ worldstarhitradio.com and I will updates on my next role.

We definitely wish Tripp the best in his future endeavors, but at the same time we hate to see Tex Brown end. The series may just be released in a similar fashion to About Justin upon Rico Pruitt’s departure earlier this year.  This has been quite the week for Mr. Ali, as you recall he announced he would be the sole host of The Plug after Brandon Karson’s allegedly abrupt departure. We reached out to Signal 23 TV, but at the time this post went live we had not received a response. What are your thoughts on Tripp Ali’s departure? Sound off in the comments section below!

[REVIEW] Vanity, Tragedy, & Transparency–Get into AConnectionTV’s (@aconnectiontv) Hit Series, “H.O.E.!”

(Singing) “Once upon a time not long ago I was ‘H.O.E.!'” Sorry guys but we are not talking Mariah Lyn this time. Instead our crosshairs and gaze are set on AConnectionTV’s new hit web series, H.O.E! The series is directed by Toni Bernard (About Him Season 2: The Revolution, Red Carpet Hashtags & Heartbreak) and created and written by Wesley Henderson (Culture Klubb, The Mona Simone Show, While You Were Sleeping) is set in Atlanta and centers on a trio of friends, Hawk (Rodney Glover), O’Neil (Ryan K. Sanders), and Elizabeth (Tiya Rene’e). Together the first letters of their names make the acronym of “H.O.E.”

(Singing) “Once upon a time not long ago I was ‘H.O.E.!'” Sorry guys but we are not talking Mariah Lynn this time. Instead our crosshairs and gaze are set on AConnectionTV’s new hit web series, H.O.E! The series is directed by Toni Bernard (About Him Season 2: The Revolution, Red Carpet Hashtags & Heartbreak) and created and written by Wesley Henderson (Culture Clubb, The Mona Samone Show, While You Sleep) is set in Atlanta and centers on a trio of friends, Hawk (Rodney Glover), O‘Neil (Ryan K. Sanders), and Elizabeth (Tiya Rene’e). Together the first letters of their names make the acronym of “H.O.E.”

Hawk is Instagram famous with a knack for having casual and selfish sex with his followers (Yeah he’s an asshole). Meanwhile, O’Neil is a hopeless romantic determined to not be a gay, promiscuous stereotype all while struggling to move away from his ex-boyfriend Chance (Ryan Marcus) when the latter cheats on him. Finally, Elizabeth loves the ladies and gents and is perfectly comfortable with and casual about dating multiple people at once. The three friends tackle life and love in Atlanta while struggling to maintain their own near familial bond. The series as a whole will have you questioning what makes anyone a hoe, and you may even question are you a hoe? Overall the series actually has a story and you will find it refreshing to finally see a web series sprinkled sex and not a porn with dialogue! What We Liked

rodney glover aconnectiontv H.O.E.

-The story line was unique and actually tells a story. There is not a single series in the Web World like H.O.E. Trust me we checked and it is REFRESHING.

-The show definitely runs off an Insecure vibe at times, especially when Hawk is on the scene.

-The locations and shots of Atlanta definitely did our city justice.

Well now the creator of the series, Corey Knott, has announced its cancellation, opting to end LIT on a high note and in a bid to move HD Productions in a new direction.

Corey Knott

As you may already know HD Productions has proven itself to be quite the powerhouse this year under Corey Knott’s guidance, earning a slew of awards from the National Youth Pride Services (NYPS) in a host of categories. Corey reveals that he feels LIT has run its course and that he now would like to make content that will appeal to a wider audience of viewers. “There’s a lot of talent here at HD Productions and I want my actors to have all the opportunities I know they deserve. That means working on more content that appeals to more people and hiring quality talent. I want to move away from just Instagram stars and people with a following…”

We wholeheartedly agree with Corey’s vision for HD Productions, but are really going to miss LIT! The series had an amazingly sexy cast both seasons with beaus like Zahfar, Justen Ruff, Rashad Lawrence, Gorgious Montana, Sherrod Willis, and Mustang. Corey has revealed to us there are a number of new series he will be debuting in January that he is sure will be runaway hits.

It is the end of an era at the network, but we will be tuning in for all the new series! Check back here for reviews and interviews!, and make sure you catch the series finale of LIT on December 8th! Web Series are perforating throughout the net and YouTube, and honestly we are excited and even happier to be back watching and reviewing them. There are a host of new web series out, but we had to cover Signal23TV’s newest show, Hurt, starring Lando King and Dyarius Tucker.

Hurt centers on Genesis (Lando King), a seemingly well to do guy looking for love in all the wrong places and with the wrong people. The first episode begins with a love scene that would make sinners blush! Later, we learn Genesis recently broke up with his “fuckboy” boyfriend, Junior (Dyarius Tucker), who is determined not to let him go by any means necessary. Genesis must make some tough decisions to secure his safety and sanity as he realizes the old saying, “Hurt people, hurt people.”

Lando King & Dyarius Tucker in Signal 23 Tv’s “Hurt” Series

We are really excited about this series as it marks the first time we have seen Lando King headlining his own series. Before he has always been in a more supporting role. The Web Star tells us the series is very relatable and promises it will keep you wanting more and more. We can definitely vouch for this, as we are already anxious to see what the next episode in the series holds for us.

Dyarius Tucker

As aforementioned Dyarius Tucker co-stars in the series as well, and his character is all too familiar with anyone who has ever dated someone they know they should never have entertained. Tucker is a good actor, and this may be the start of a legitimate acting career for him.

Hurt definitely tackles issues of domestic violence, insecurity, and mental health as Genesis comes to terms with all of his life choices and we are here for it! It can’t always be sex and fluff material in the Web World (sips tea). Kudos to the folks at Signal23TV, this one is a keeper! You can catch Hurt by clicking here and subscribing to the network’s Vimeo channel. Happy viewing!

*Tune in tonight to WTTRadio’s The Hey Mikey Show to catch exclusive interviews with Lando King and Dyarius Tucker! We love you for listening!
