Tyson Anthony definitely knows how to tell us a good story and one of his best is seen via hit web series, Raising Eli!

Starring Chris JuneRaising Eli tells the story of Eli, a currently downtrodden young man struggling to take care of himself and now, Travis (Monnie Isham), the son of his ex-boyfriend. At the end of the second season, Eli had lost his own home and was forced to move into his grandmother’s home with Travis in tow. There he is chided by his overbearing cousin who is secretly jealous of the attention he has always received, while Travis’s father shows up to make amends with his son and Eli. Meanwhile, King (Dalvin Desjuan Robinson) struggled to deal with his social anxiety. Lastly, Shad (Desmond Fletcher) seems to finally be getting his life together with working and acting, but may have a baby on the way…

Yep, quite the cliffhanger Mr. Anthony left us on. Flash forward to present day during a conversation via Instagram DM (LOL, no it did not “go down in the DM) he confirmed that there will indeed be a third season of the Raising Eli AND coming sooner than you think!

Naturally, we are overjoyed the series is coming back, but we are really rooting for Eli to have a come up. To us, Eli is the epitome of a quote by William Gibson, “Before you diagnose yourself with depression or low self-esteem, first make sure that you are not, in fact, just surrounded by assholes.” Eli is definitely surrounded by assholes–from his rude cousin to Travis’s lackluster father. We are praying Eli gets it together, but each of the other characters need to do some growing up too.

In the meantime catch up on the first two seasons of Raising Eli on TysonPlus.com!

The latest series to join the Signal 23 TV is none other than Kingdom Heights, starring Jaquay Wilkerson!

Kingdom Heights centers on a neighborhood in “The SWAT (Southwest Atlanta),” whose drug scene is ruled by a few drug families ruled by a revered and respected, but ailing drug lord. There seems to be an uneasy peace among the families and inner workings of the drug trade in the hood, but with their drug lord retiring all eyes turn towards “King” (Jaquay Wilkerson; About Him Season 2: The Revolution, Uncle Joey) as their next leader.

King, however, is more concerned with taking care of his son, making sure his own crew remains on point, and keeping his dual lifestyle a secret– he has male and female lovers! Still the drug game is as treacherous as ever and with the release of his cousin, “Boo” (Alvin Britton, AKA “Mustang;” The Getaway, Steel River) from prison the stakes only get higher as the latter is determined to be Kingdom Height’s next drug lord.

We have watched the first four episodes of the city and we have to say like Degrassi, “it goes there.” The story is is very believable as it reveals the inner workings of the street game and the personal lives of its players. However, most intriguing is the backdrop poverty, power struggles, and tales of survival juxtaposed by the unspoken respect and a mutual understanding of all those involved. Yes, it reminds us of Power, but only in the sense of subject matter. The series stands out on its own thanks to its key players, Jaquay and Mustang, and let’s not forget those sex scenes–Tex Brown worthy! The face of Signal 23 TV is changing and we have to say we can dig it!

The series centers on three men, Colby (King David) a prodigal son dealing with his father’s death. Colby is clearly suffering from “words left unspoken;” angry and bitter over how things soured between him and his father, but not really knowing how to express his grief or anger. He is, however, interested in his next door neighbor, Mark (Donta Hensley).  Mark is a man renowned for his temper and violence, but saw Colby’s father as someone to be loved and respected. Lastly, we have JT (Tripp Ali), a father with a son soon to enter college. JT is also quite the explorer at night when it comes to his sexuality or alone time.

We are not sure what role Gary will be portraying, but we know it will be one we have to see. We are really excited about seeing Gary and Tripp on the same series together. It is something that has not happened since the first season of About Him.

Honestly, we thought Gary’s appearance in Honest Men would segue him into H.I.M. (formerly known as About Him: Freshman Year) where he would reprise his role of “Vince,” and reunite with Brandon Karson, Rahim Brazil, and Rico Pruitt. Gary has stated he has no plans to, but we know it is something fans definitely would not mind seeing it (hint, hint).

Ladies and gentleman Bawn TV has created a true masterpiece with its newest series, Blackville!

The pilot episode of the series, A Son Comes Home (Sermon 1), centering on a church family, The Blackvilles. Here we find a church family that is far from your typical one. The oldest son, Cameron (Chris June) is fresh out of prison after serving a twenty-two month sentence for receiving stolen property and lying in court. He finds love in the most unexpected, yet extraordinary way. His younger brother, Caleb (Rico Pruitt), struggles with the idea of consummating his relationship with his boyfriend.

Meanwhile, their parents, Jeffrey and Elizabeth are in a loveless marriage, but head a church that helps many people in the community. Elizabeth is determined her family “look” respectable and united– and that means making Cameron fall in line! Jeffery has his own issues to deal with, however, as a church trustee, Israel (Rigardo Rush) accuses him of stealing money from the church!

Family drama, infighting, sabotage, acceptance, and sexual exploration all combine to make Blackville potentially the greatest web series to date. You may try to compare this series to Greenleaf, but honestly it would be like comparing apples and oranges. Blackville is easily more realistic–some church folk cuss, there are gay Preacher’s Kids, every family has that one rebel child, and the inner workings of church politics and finances are seldom civil! Deal with it!

Even though this is only the pilot episode we have to say Anthony Bawn, executive producer and director of the series, is really on to something here. “With Blackville I want to convey the human traits of a religious trait. We are all flawed even the ones with the highest level of spiritual contact. But I plan to showcase how raw and real these individuals can be. So please support and stay tune for more from Blackville.”

New episodes are set to debut at the top of the year, and naturally we cannot wait! Check back here for more updates and interviews with the cast!
