The world of web series continues to expand and we are more than happy to watch and document the rise. This year alone nearly a dozen have debuted and we have to say the stories, acting, quality, and message of each of these series pushes the envelope, rivaling anything you will find on television. The latest series to make its mark may very well prove to be the greatest!

Ladies and gentleman Bawn TV has created a true masterpiece with its newest series, Blackville!

The pilot episode of the series, A Son Comes Home (Sermon 1), centering on a church family, The Blackvilles. Here we find a church family that is far from your typical one. The oldest son, Cameron (Chris June) is fresh out of prison after serving a twenty-two month sentence for receiving stolen property and lying in court. He finds love in the most unexpected, yet extraordinary way. His younger brother, Caleb (Rico Pruitt), struggles with the idea of consummating his relationship with his boyfriend.

Meanwhile, their parents, Jeffrey and Elizabeth are in a loveless marriage, but head a church that helps many people in the community. Elizabeth is determined her family “look” respectable and united– and that means making Cameron fall in line! Jeffery has his own issues to deal with, however, as a church trustee, Israel (Rigardo Rush) accuses him of stealing money from the church!

Family drama, infighting, sabotage, acceptance, and sexual exploration all combine to make Blackville potentially the greatest web series to date. You may try to compare this series to Greenleaf, but honestly it would be like comparing apples and oranges. Blackville is easily more realistic–some church folk cuss, there are gay Preacher’s Kids, every family has that one rebel child, and the inner workings of church politics and finances are seldom civil! Deal with it!

Even though this is only the pilot episode we have to say Anthony Bawn, executive producer and director of the series, is really on to something here. “With Blackville I want to convey the human traits of a religious trait. We are all flawed even the ones with the highest level of spiritual contact. But I plan to showcase how raw and real these individuals can be. So please support and stay tune for more from Blackville.”

New episodes are set to debut at the top of the year, and naturally we cannot wait! Check back here for more updates and interviews with the cast!

Chasing Shade? “G-Status ATL Hustle” Creator Speaks on “Chasing Atlanta” (@ChasingRLTY) Beef!

We have to admit these web reality series are amusing. There are a few that have definitely come up on radar in the last year–Chasing Atlanta, The Come Up ATL, and The G-Status ATL Hustle! The first and latter, however,  seem ready to collide after an interview on our very own Michael “Hey Mikey” Fanning’s popular radio show, The Hey Mikey Show. Last night’s show centered on the cast of The G-Status ATL Hustle as they built up to their series premiere set to air tonight on YouTube. However, a few comments made by series creator and director, Jah Jah Katai, seem to have been perceived as shady by a few Chasing Atlanta cast members.

These aforementioned comments took place on cast member, Sherrod Willis’ Instagram Live feed and it seems some the “kidz” aren’t having it. Check out Jah Jah’s comments below (Swipe left) and a few comments from left on the post:

Shady? We don’t have an opinion. However, Mikey reached out to Jah earlier today for a statement and he had this to say, “Didn’t say their [Chasing Atlanta] name. A hit dog will holler. That’s it from me, but thank you again.”

You can listen to last night’s airing of The Hey Mikey Show by clicking here. All we can say is that we will be tuning into the premiere of The G-Status ATL Hustle where you will see Mikey make a guest appearance and we will be at Truth nightclub tonight for a special screening. If you’re in the metro Atlanta area come out, come dressed, and be prepared to be BLOGGED about!

In fact, from what we can tell from the trailer, the drama and chaos are only going to increase! Indeed this trailer shows that this second season will be edgier, darker, and pushing boundaries we may have not have seen for a while in a web series.

As you can see Martel Star, November, Chris June, Siren, Robert Brown, and Toni Bryce reprise their roles of Nick, Duke, Marcus, Star, Robert, and Vanessa, respectively. These new faces, are relatively new to the Web World, most of them we recognize from Twisted outings or behind the scenes. Of the new faces we are excited to see include Marcus Jones, celebrity hairstylist & make up artist (he can do a lot more, but we cannot fill up this article with his accolades–GOOGLE HIM); Ebony Shinelle, a rising publicist in Atlanta who has her eyes and thumb print on a number of Web Stars and local rappers. Most of all, however, we are happy to see Rahim back in front of the camera! We wonder where his character fits in the grand scheme of things.

We have to say this has truly made our day. It is so good to see growth and as you know we sometimes have an affinity for the “darker” side of things at HeyMikeyATL. Still there are so many questions–How is Vanessa going to make ends meet? Does Marcus really have the balls to kill someone? Who is the light skinned vixen that has caught Star’s eye? You all just be sure to check back here for more updates on Twisted 2: Family Secrets! Happy viewing!

Memorial Day is gone, but that does not mean the fun is over. Apparently there is a new web reality series on the scene and it is all the rave! The G-Status Atlanta Hustle is it name and the Black gayfamous of Atlanta are taking center stage in this new series!

Normally we stick to Web Series and tend to leave the world of Web Reality alone; but when a few of our favorite people are in the mix we won’t dare turn a blind eye. Produced by Jah and KL Allen, the series centers around Sherrod Willis, Adrian Crear, Jr., Krisean Woods, Charle Xile, Cordae, Sir’Akeem, Zahfar, and Milan Jadda; each of them popular faces of Atlanta’s local Black LGBT community, and all trying to climb their way to the heights of success and true fame. Some of them have it, some of them want it, and well some we can tell we are going to wish they would STOP.

The super trailer for The G-Status Atlanta Hustle looks amazing and with appearances by familiar faces like Kontrol Magazine’s editor-in-chief, Julian Lark, Web Stars Chris JuneRahim Brazil and Gary Lavard, and our very own Michael “Hey Mikey” Fanning, we will definitely be tuning in.

Jah and KL may very well have a runaway hit on their hands and we are happy to witness the rise of its key players while gorging ourselves on the tea being spilled and shade being thrown. After all Atlanta would not be Atlanta if there was no entertaining drama, mayhem, and reads from its “kidz” (Snap, snap)! Congrats to the cast and crew!
