Oprah Winfrey’s network OWN has undergone quite a few changes lately. First came the announcement of the departure of Oprah’s friend and creative partner Tyler Perry. Oprah and Tyler had an exclusive deal where he would create original content for the OWN network. While Tyler is moving on to create original content with BET, Oprah has also moved on to sign an exclusive content deal with director and producer Will Packer.

Recently, the OWN network announced yet another change coming forth to the network. The co-writer and executive producer of “Moonlight”.

Tarell Alvin McCraney, has signed on with the OWN network.

McCraney has created a one hour drama series that will join the television line up amongst OWN’s popular hits such as “Greenleaf”, “Queen Sugar”, and “The Haves And The Have Nots”.

This television series has not been titled yet, and will be the first television project for McCraney.  The project was created, written, and produced by McCraney. Mike Kelley, Melissa Loy, and “Creed” actor Michael B. Jordan also serve as executive producers on the project. McCraney’s show will be a new coming of age drama centered around a 14 year old prodigy. The 14 year old is faced with a very important decision. Should he follow the path of the streets that call his name or should he put his education to use to find a way out of his circumstances. The series takes place in South Florida and is inspired by events that have taken place in McCarney’s own life. Oprah shared her thoughts of the new series,

“When Tarell shared his powerful story with us there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. I knew this was something special that our viewers will without a doubt connect to and feel compelled to explore with us. I am honored to be working with Tarell and the rest of the producers on this project.”

McCraney also shared his thoughts on his upcoming project.

“I wanted to explore the pivotal steps towards adulthood and identity, the ones we take when we think or feel we have no other choice.”

Chasing Shade? “G-Status ATL Hustle” Creator Speaks on “Chasing Atlanta” (@ChasingRLTY) Beef!

We have to admit these web reality series are amusing. There are a few that have definitely come up on radar in the last year–Chasing Atlanta, The Come Up ATL, and The G-Status ATL Hustle! The first and latter, however,  seem ready to collide after an interview on our very own Michael “Hey Mikey” Fanning’s popular radio show, The Hey Mikey Show. Last night’s show centered on the cast of The G-Status ATL Hustle as they built up to their series premiere set to air tonight on YouTube. However, a few comments made by series creator and director, Jah Jah Katai, seem to have been perceived as shady by a few Chasing Atlanta cast members.

These aforementioned comments took place on cast member, Sherrod Willis’ Instagram Live feed and it seems some the “kidz” aren’t having it. Check out Jah Jah’s comments below (Swipe left) and a few comments from left on the post:

Shady? We don’t have an opinion. However, Mikey reached out to Jah earlier today for a statement and he had this to say, “Didn’t say their [Chasing Atlanta] name. A hit dog will holler. That’s it from me, but thank you again.”

You can listen to last night’s airing of The Hey Mikey Show by clicking here. All we can say is that we will be tuning into the premiere of The G-Status ATL Hustle where you will see Mikey make a guest appearance and we will be at Truth nightclub tonight for a special screening. If you’re in the metro Atlanta area come out, come dressed, and be prepared to be BLOGGED about!

#FashionCrush- Florence Welch (@flo_tweet)

When, singer, Florence Welch hit the scene in the early 2010’s with her band, The Machine, the fashion world collectively breathed a collective sigh of relief.

There had been almost a starvation for a band with a beautiful, yet fashion forward front woman reminiscent of the days of No Doubt and Blondie. Practically overnight, the fiery red head, who hails from Camberwell, London, England, was scooped up by almost every major fashion house, having performed at the Chanel runway show in 2012 as well as having Gucci design the wardrobe for her 2011 summer tour.  This would subsequently result in a long relationship with the house of Gucci as she has become a muse for Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele.

Despite all of the fashion press, Florence Welch + The Machine were still relatively unknown. Welch had had somewhat of a turbulent childhood, having had the traumatic experience of watching her grandmother commit suicide. By age fourteen she picked up a drinking habit and was known to frequent wild parties. Fortunately, Welch was able to kick the habit, and despite being diagnosed with dyslexia, was able to do well in school.  She would later drop out of the Camberwell College of Arts to focus on her music career. In 2009, Florence and her band, The Machine released their debut album, Lungs, which debuted at number seventeen on the UK charts.  By 2011, they were already creating a buzz in the music world, having had two successful albums.   The latter of which debuted at number one on the UK albums chart.  A song from this album would eventually be used in the soundtrack for Snow White and the Huntsman.  After releasing the single Sweet Nothing with Calvin Harris, Welch would receive her first Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording.

In recent years, Welch has had much success apart from her band.  She’s collaborated with Lady Gaga on a song for Gaga’s latest album, and also put her vocals to use on the Wonder Woman soundtrack. You can still find her beasting every red carpet event she attends and as the brand ambassador for Gucci, you can be assured she’ll most likely be the best dressed.

The CW Airs Series Finale for “Life Sentence,” Show Runner Reveals True Ending For Series!

We love The CW! The network has some of the best television series out right now, including Riverdale, Supernatural, and The Arrowverse (the term associated with the The CW’s interconnected superhero series Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, and Black Lightning), and soon the Charmed reboot. However, one of its series that surprisingly intrigued us was Life Sentence, a series centered on Stella Abbott (Lucy Hale), a woman who thought she was dying from cancer, but now has to face the rest of her life after being cured. Stella often finds herself playing catch up as she learns her husband and family have made many sacrifices to keep her incredibly comfortable. The series is sweet, funny, quirky and is now CANCELLED!

The CW opted to cancel the series due to low ratings, as it averaged a mere 500K viewers each episode. Star of the series, Lucy Hale has posted the following:

We really hate to see the series go, especially after watching the series finale. It was so amazingly sweet with each character seemingly getting a hopeful ending. Television has a lot of dramas but Life Sentence really stood out with its message of family first, second chances, and making the most of life. We love you Stella Abbott, and her husband, Wes Charles (Elliot Knight)…our Friday nights just will not be the same with you.

The series finale defintely had fans of the show in tears as Stella and Wes broke up. The show runner, Richard Keith took Twitter revealing how the series should have ended had it lasted longer.

“They stay friends… then drift apart… then reconnect in Paris at 30 and get remarried, fully knowing the commitment they are making… and they adopt the child of a someone who is diagnosed with cancer while pregnant and chooses to have the baby rather than chemo #lifesentence,” Keith said in response to the fan.

We wish Lucy, Elliot, and the rest of the cast the best of luck in all their future endeavors! For now you can catch all the episodes on demand under The CW. Happy viewing!
