"…if we never do another album, I’m totally fine with that…" Andre 3000 Speaks On Possible Retirement!

Aquemini, Stankonia, ATLiens, Speakerboxxx/The Love Below–these are the albums we grew to know and love thanks to a pair of cool, trendy, and offsetting rappers that made up the dynamic duo of Outkast! There has never been a time when we were not happy to hear one of their tunes anywhere, you could always feel a little piece of Atlanta with you no matter where you were.

Well that feeling might just end as it seems Andre 3000 has hinted he is retiring from rapping!

In an interview with Complex, the Atlanta icon sat down to discuss his inspirations for the collection and his current attitude towards creating music…

During the conversation, André 3000 said that he’s more motivated by the collaborative processes of acting and fashion design, as opposed to making music. “I work better with other people,” he said. “I clearly see that now. Like, I haven’t put out an album in years, but if Frank Ocean or Travis Scott calls and says, ‘Hey, man, I want you to be a part of this,’ it’s like I have a goal, a target. When I’m on my own, I’m sitting around twiddling my thumbs.”

Despite this realization, he said that the thought of a new album with his oldest collaborator, Big Boi, still doesn’t inspire him to get behind the mic. “It’s really just an excitement thing, and where I am in life,” he explained. “I kind of like not being a part of [rap], now that I’ve done it…Even with Outkast — if we never do another album, I’m totally fine with that. When I was 25, I said I don’t want to be a 30-year-old rapper. I’m 42 now, and I feel more and more that way.”

We really hope Andre is not leaving the game! He is one of rap’s most creative and legendary rappers. Music just got a little less interesting…

The CW Airs Series Finale for “Life Sentence,” Show Runner Reveals True Ending For Series!

We love The CW! The network has some of the best television series out right now, including Riverdale, Supernatural, and The Arrowverse (the term associated with the The CW’s interconnected superhero series Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, and Black Lightning), and soon the Charmed reboot. However, one of its series that surprisingly intrigued us was Life Sentence, a series centered on Stella Abbott (Lucy Hale), a woman who thought she was dying from cancer, but now has to face the rest of her life after being cured. Stella often finds herself playing catch up as she learns her husband and family have made many sacrifices to keep her incredibly comfortable. The series is sweet, funny, quirky and is now CANCELLED!

The CW opted to cancel the series due to low ratings, as it averaged a mere 500K viewers each episode. Star of the series, Lucy Hale has posted the following:

We really hate to see the series go, especially after watching the series finale. It was so amazingly sweet with each character seemingly getting a hopeful ending. Television has a lot of dramas but Life Sentence really stood out with its message of family first, second chances, and making the most of life. We love you Stella Abbott, and her husband, Wes Charles (Elliot Knight)…our Friday nights just will not be the same with you.

The series finale defintely had fans of the show in tears as Stella and Wes broke up. The show runner, Richard Keith took Twitter revealing how the series should have ended had it lasted longer.

“They stay friends… then drift apart… then reconnect in Paris at 30 and get remarried, fully knowing the commitment they are making… and they adopt the child of a someone who is diagnosed with cancer while pregnant and chooses to have the baby rather than chemo #lifesentence,” Keith said in response to the fan.

We wish Lucy, Elliot, and the rest of the cast the best of luck in all their future endeavors! For now you can catch all the episodes on demand under The CW. Happy viewing!

[TRAILER] Edgier, Darker, TWISTED! Rahim Brazil (@rahimbrazil) & Crew Return w/ “Twisted2: Family Secrets!”

In fact, from what we can tell from the trailer, the drama and chaos are only going to increase! Indeed this trailer shows that this second season will be edgier, darker, and pushing boundaries we may have not have seen for a while in a web series.

As you can see Martel Star, November, Chris June, Siren, Robert Brown, and Toni Bryce reprise their roles of Nick, Duke, Marcus, Star, Robert, and Vanessa, respectively. These new faces, are relatively new to the Web World, most of them we recognize from Twisted outings or behind the scenes. Of the new faces we are excited to see include Marcus Jones, celebrity hairstylist & make up artist (he can do a lot more, but we cannot fill up this article with his accolades–GOOGLE HIM); Ebony Shinelle, a rising publicist in Atlanta who has her eyes and thumb print on a number of Web Stars and local rappers. Most of all, however, we are happy to see Rahim back in front of the camera! We wonder where his character fits in the grand scheme of things.

We have to say this has truly made our day. It is so good to see growth and as you know we sometimes have an affinity for the “darker” side of things at HeyMikeyATL. Still there are so many questions–How is Vanessa going to make ends meet? Does Marcus really have the balls to kill someone? Who is the light skinned vixen that has caught Star’s eye? You all just be sure to check back here for more updates on Twisted 2: Family Secrets! Happy viewing!

[VIDEO] The Dopest Animated Promo! Check Out “Ye vs. The People!”

Kanye West has definitely become one of the most controversial people on the planet. Whereas we loved him for his crazy style and bravado, nowadays people–especially Black people–have mixed feelings about him following his commentary on slavery, basically stating it was a choice. One of the opponents to his thoughts and point of view has been none other than the self-proclaimed, “King of The South,” TI.

Interestingly, most people have not been hip to the buzz that Kanye West and TI dropped a single called Ye vs. The People,  where both of the rappers presented their sides of the argument, with TI being the self-appointed “Voice of The People.” Producer, Cory Mo, and animator, Cartoon Buck, released an animated music video for the single and we LOVE it!

The video really captivates both sides of the argument and perhaps is how a real rap debate should go–where people actually listen to each others’ sides and agree to disagree. We met Cory Mo, through author, screenwriter, and producer, Kimberly Jones (About Him, About Her). “Me and my partner did an animated video for Big Boi’s single he dropped about six months ago, the one by Big Boi, Gucci, and Pimp C [“In The South”]. When that song came out I felt the message was just so dope that we had to go with this song. We haven’t really presented to them, but we did it to let them know we do animated videos.”Cory Mo reveals.

Surprisingly Corey Mo remains mostly neutral when it comes to taking sides, seeing validity in both of their arguments. “I’m not necessarily on either side. I understand TI 100%, but Kanye isn’t really saying anything malicious. They both have valid points. He’s just fucked up, wearing that maggot hat thinking he’s going to change people…I felt its a dope ass message and people need to see the shit. Me and my boy, [Cartoon] Buck, are just with it and trying to put our footprint on the thing.”

Cory Mo and Cartoon Buck are super talented and we are really hoping this animated music video goes viral! Check out their other aforementioned video below, In The South! Happy viewing!
