As we have previously reported, The CW is once again expanding its superhero line up of DC Comics related characters, affectionately dubbed the “Arrowverse” by fans, with a new series based on Batwoman. The series is groundbreaking as the lead character will be a lesbian. Speculation on who would play the titular character is now over as it has been announced that Ruby Rose has landed the part!

The CW has found its Batwoman, who will appear in a DC crossover event of Arrow, The Flash and Supergirl in December and then likely again in her own standalone series.

Ruby Rose, the stunning scene-stealer from Orange Is the New Black, John Wick: Chapter 2and The Meg, has been cast as the caped crusader’s female contemporary.

What’s more, the character Batwoman will be openly lesbian, the first to lead a TV show.

“Rose will be playing the Kate Kane version of the character, who, armed with a passion for social justice and flair for speaking her mind, soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence,” an overview from DC Comics reads.

“But don’t call her a hero yet—in a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.”

Batwoman’s co-creator, Greg Rucka, has sounded off in support of Ruby’s casting as Kate Kane/Batwoman:

We have to say AGAIN we are here for this new Batwoman series and cannot wait for this year’s crossover event. Team Arrow, Team Flash, The Legends, Supergirl, and Black Lightning are finally getting some help from at least one of Gotham’s superheroes! What do you guys think of this casting news? The confrontation ended with liberal Goldberg allegedly shouting, “F–k you, get the f–k out!” at President Trump supporter and Fox News host Pirro.

During the screaming match, Pirro told Goldberg, “I’ve done more for abused women than you will ever do,” we hear.

The trouble, sources told us, started before Pirro even went on-air to promote her new book, “Liars, Leakers, and Liberals: The Case Against the Anti-Trump Conspiracy” — when Pirro arrived at “The View” to learn that anti-Trump CNN contributor Ana Navarro was filling in for Joy Behar.

“When Jeanine arrived on set she was looking for a fight and refusing to be on with Ana, demanding [Ana] not be in the segment,” an insider said. “[Pirro] was yelling at [‘The View’] executive producer and her staff like, ‘You need to handle this.’”

Another source told us that Pirro “was upset that Ana was there because she wasn’t told until the last minute. Ana is 24-7 anti-Trump. Jeanine wasn’t yelling, but you could tell they felt like the segment was being hijacked by shoving in an anti-Fox, anti-Trump person.”

Navaro did appear in Pirro’s segments, and things came to a head on the ABC show when the “Justice with Judge Jeanine” host accused left-wing Goldberg of having “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”

Goldberg responded of Trump, “I have never seen anybody whip up such hate.”

It really sucks that Donald Trump can cause such chaos on a well-respected show. We are sure both ladies held their own, but this only serves as a sign of the times as politics have become more and more volatile.

Teagan Croft as “Raven”

The trailer for Titans was just released and we have to say it is DARK following the mantra of the DC Cinematic Universe that has been mostly panned in comparison to its Marvel counterpart. This is not to say the series will not be great, this is to say its first story arc seems to be an already infamous as Raven (Teagan Croft) struggles with with her demonic powers, darkness, and heritage. As you recall from the comics and animated Cartoon Network series, her father is Trigon, an interdimensional demon and conqueror.

As for the other Titans, Robin (Brenton Thwaite, [clearly he is the first Robin, “Dick Grayson”]) seems to be on bad terms with Batman as he clearly says, “Fuck Batman!” Meanwhile, Beast Boy (Ryan Potter), Starfire (Anna Diop), and obscure DC Comics super heroine, Dove, seem to be fighting their own battles in a rather dark backdrop. Dove, by the way, possesses the ability to transform into a super powered version of herself  endowed with flight, enhanced durability, superhuman agility, and can fire blinding beams of light.

We are not sure about their individual story lines, but we definitely believe it will be worthwhile. Sure, we miss Cyborg, but clearly he is more of a Justice League member now and we are sure they are keeping him for the movies. In fact his standalone film is due to be released in 2020.
