Everything was not as poppin’ as it should be. First of all, we love Katy Perry dearly, but she should never again be allowed to host any awards show. She is corny, not  funny, and would have served better doing more performances last night to give the people a taste of what her upcoming tour will look like. Still, the performances saved the show. Kendrick Lamar was the superhero of performances last night visually, performing two of his hit singles, DNA and Humble. Check out his performance below!

Pink, the recipient of the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award, stayed true to her style and performed in the air–atop a convertible, albeit! Her medley of past hits definitely oozed with early 2000’s nostalgia. Still we wish she would have done some of her more historic hits like most Girls and Just Like A Pill. You can catch her acceptance speech below!

Other highlights of the night include Taylor Swift (even though she did not show up) debuting her new music video, Look What You Made Me Do; a true nod to the VMAs and consisting of past and present versions of herself.

We love how Nicki Minaj finally jumped in on a performance when she and Katy did Swish Swish. We definitely think it’s time for the former to debut a new album though, some of these other female rappers are “Making money moves!”

The night was full of amazement and we want to congratulate all the winners! Check them out on the next page!

Yikes! Fox Cancels “REL” After One Season!

Comedian, Lil Rel Howery, is definitely one of the funniest comedians alive and a rising star in the movie scene. However, that has not stopped Fox from canceling his self-titled, show, REL, after only one season. Low ratings may have been an attributing factor, still others are blaming the controversies surrounding cast mate, Instagram Star, Jess Hilarious.  Rel took to Instagram to thank his fans and viewers for their support.

We really liked REL and are surprised to see it has been canceled. Then again, Fox can be brutal with its line up, especially when it comes to its comedies. We wish Lil Rel and the rest of the cast the best. We are sure he will be fine though, he is appearing in five movies between the end of this year and next year.

#BingeWatchWorthy- Netflix’s “Love, Death, & Robots”

Netflix is always pushing the envelope with its series, but one of its newest series–a series of animated short films–may be one of its most innovative! Enter the worlds of Love, Death, & Robots! As aforementioned the series consists of eighteen animated short films, each set in a different world dealing with the themes of love (in various forms), different ways death affects the world, and of course ROBOTS–just about every kind you can think of; from giant mechs to true artificial life forms. Get ready to have your minds and senses blown as the graphic series leave little to the imagination, but always delivers a story you will never forget.

Grade: A+

What We Liked

love death and robots review

-The diverse stories that make up this show are amazing and each one is so different you will always find yourself eager to know what is next.

-We like the originality of each series and how so much was compartmentalized into 10 to 30 minutes of action.

What We Loved

love death and robots good hunting review

-The different styles of animation in each series. Both Western and Eastern influences played a role in their style. Some were reminiscent of the Animatrix (2003), a film made in a similar style to this series but with the overarching theme of the Matrix trilogy movies.

-Our favorite episode of the series was undoubtedly, “Good Hunting.” It centered on the friendship between a Chinese boy and a shape-shifting huli jing (Chinese mythological creatures who can be either good or bad), who rekindle their friendship after years apart in a steampunk Hong-Kong.

-The various genres--sci-fi, cyberpunk, steampunk, folklore, post-apocalyptic, etc. The series really gives you something for nothing.

-The series were graphic and as aforementioned left nothing to the imagination. The human form is fascinating–even when animated.

What We Hated

love death and robots good hunting review

-There was nothing to hate about this show, we do hope however some of the shorts can become full-fledged series. (“Good Hunting” of course!)
