As progressive as society seems to be becoming with its acceptance of other lifestyles and gay marriage, there are still some places in our country that refuse to roll with the times or accepting changing societal norms. Thus, we are not surprised to hear that the state of Alabama has refused to air Arthur’s 22nd Season Premiere which would feature one its main characters, Mr. Ratburn, not only coming out, but marrying another man in a same-sex wedding! Alabama Public Television states it has no plans to air the episode at all.

Alabama Public Television chose not to air PBS’ recent “Arthur” episode that featured a same-sex marriage.

During the animated series’ 22nd season premiere, titled “Mr. Ratburn and the Special Someone,” Arthur’s third-grade teacher, Mr. Ratburn, marries Patrick, a chocolatier, at a wedding attended by his students, Arthur, Francine, Buster and Muffy. It aired May 13.

Mike McKenzie, director of programming at APT, told NBC News on Monday that PBS sent a message to stations in mid-April alerting them “to possible viewer concerns about the content of the program.” After he and others at APT viewed the episode, they decided not to broadcast it and showed a re-run instead.

McKenzie said the network has no plans to air it.

“Parents have trusted Alabama Public Television for more than 50 years to provide children’s programs that entertain, educate and inspire,” McKenzie said in a statement. “More importantly — although we strongly encourage parents to watch television with their children and talk about what they have learned afterwards — parents trust that their children can watch APT without their supervision. We also know that children who are younger than the ‘target’ audience for ‘Arthur’ also watch the program.”

McKenzie also said if they aired it, APT would take away the choice of parents who felt it was inappropriate for their children.

“The vast majority of parents will not have heard about the content, whether they agree with it or not,” he said. “Because of this, we felt it would be a violation of trust to broadcast the episode.”

“Arthur” debuted in 1996 and follows the adventures of its title character, his friends and family.

In 2005, APT pulled an episode of “Arthur” in which the character Buster visited a girl who had two mothers, according to AL.com.

“’Our feeling is that we basically have a trust with parents about our programming,” then-executive director Allan Pizzato said at the time. “This program doesn’t fit into that.”

Alabama has made a lot of controversial and conservative decisions as of late. As you may already know the state passed one of the most restrictive abortion bans in modern history just two weeks ago. “Sweet Home Alabama” just seems pretty archaic nowadays.

The night started off all wrong when NeNe Leakes allegedly ‘came in with her bare breasts exposed,’ causing speculation as to whether or not she was under the influence. The photo above was taken by an onlooker — and it’s easy to see how NeNe’s girls could’ve made a guest appearance.

If you recall, NeNe JUST resumed filming with the rest of the ladies last month after her weeks-long suspension.

“No one cared that she was there and she got zero reaction from any of the ladies — including Marlo and Yovanna (who’s around as an ‘unofficial friend).’”

According to our sources, Yovanna and Porsha went at it as well as Kenya and NeNe.

“Yovanna is a snake. No one really likes her and it’s clear she’s only around to be the villain,” said the source.

All we can say is this is a bit much. We are not sure what could make all of them get to a point where they are ready to fight in a restaurant, but we are not surprised. Kenya and Nene are practically mortal enemies at this point; and Porsha and Yovanna (As you recall last season she stated she was “that bitch” at Clark Atlanta University in her heyday) are hot heads. Last season was rather lackluster so it seems the ladies are making up for their less than stellar peformance in 2018. Kenya, welcome back!

Aqualad coming out gay

News of Kaldur’ahm’s sexuality should not come as a surprise. In the canon of DC Comics he is also gay, with his sexuality being revealed a couple of years ago. Kaldur’ahm is not the only LGBT character seen in the series as the female vigilante, Bluebird, has expressed interest in Halo, a biologically female superhero who identifies as non-binary. The series seems to reflecting in the growing acceptance and understanding of gender and sexual fluidity.

Having a Black Gay Male superhero on a series of the magnitude, albeit, animated, is still a step in the right direction. It challenges stereotypes and serves as a powerful reminder that heroes comes in all shapes, sizes, races, and sexual preferences!  #PRIDE!

Oh No! The Wendy Williams Show May End After Upcoming 11th Season! Jerry O’Connell Show May Replace IT!

We are really hoping this turns out to be “fake news” as Donald Trump infamously–and erroneously–likes to claim, but the rumor mill is turning and reporting that the Wendy Williams Show may be ending after its upcoming eleventh season! Back in December rumors that the show was on the chopping block circulated due to Wendy’s health,  personal struggles, and marital issues. Now, it seems, that her time away did more to harm the show than good. Sources close to the show are reporting that talk show hosted by actor, and one of Wendy’s stand-in host, Jerry O’Connell may take her slot.

wendy williams show canceled

“This was an extremely difficult season to get through for the staff and Wendy herself, obviously. With the show’s renewal set to end after the 2019-2020 season, everyone thinks it’s the perfect time to say goodbye move on. Wendy has enough going on as it is and honestly no one, including Wendy, is sure she can even make it through season 11. Not to mention, advertisers consider her to be a ‘risk’ due to her unplanned hiatuses and extended breaks. It’s very likely the show won’t be back.”
