Moody, dark, unnatural, and magical! Disney’s “Gargoyles” was one of the memorable series of the late nineties. The series centered on a clan of the creatures, led by their leader, Goliath, who were betrayed by their human allies and frozen in stone by a magical spell for 1,000 years. Goliath and his surviving clan members awake to the modern age in Manhattan, New York City, discovering a world ruled by science and technology where gargoyles and magical creatures have become myths. The clan, with the help of their police detective friend, Elisa Maza, must learn to navigate their new world and most of all survive.

gargoyles series disney

The creator of “Gargoyles,” Greg Weissman, has launched a petition for fans of the series to binge watch it on Disney+, in hopes it will be rebooted/revived in a similar manner to “Young Justice,” a hit animated series based on DC Comics’ superheroes hat was canceled on Cartoon Network, but was later revived by DC Online after high views on Netflix.

Greg noticed “Gargoyles” was trending on Twitter thanks to Disney+’s launch earlier this week and tweeted the following:

“Gargoyles” return would actually be amazing. The series is easily one of the most well-written animated series in history with its analogies of racism, genocide, family, and even interracial dating (as you may already know Elisa and Goliath end up together. However, Weisman revealed some years ago he wanted to expand the series into its own universe with multiple spin-offs including a prequel leading up to the Wyvern Massacre (when most of Goliath’s clan was smashed by a Viking), other set in the present centering on a few villains of the series seeking redemption (think Suicide Squad), and one set in the distant future where an alien race attacks Earth threatening humanity and gargoyles alike, and finally a continuation of the main story line with new gargoyles added to the clan (Brooklyn’s children, a new gargbeast, and the return of Coldstone and Coldfire).

We will definitely #KeepBingingGargoyles and hope you will do the same! Goliath and his comrades deserve a second chance with a new generation of viewers!

Jakeem, like Courtney, is a teen superhero but with vastly different powers. In fact, he has the ability to summon and control a powerful genie, “Johnny Thunderbolt,” who can fulfill any wish he makes, but sometimes takes them too literally. Sources close to the show tell us Jakeem will be a key player in not only helping Stargirl normalize her double life as hero and teen girl, but a partner in crime-fighting as they explore their superhuman abilities together.

We are super happy to hear about Jakeem Thunder’s inclusion into the “Stargirl” series. We also hope they will use her to revive the Justice Society of America (JSA), a team similar to the Justice League of America (JSA) but decades older with older heroes like the The Flash (Jay Garrick), Green Lantern (Alan Scott), Doctor Fate, Black Canary, Starman, and Shazam; and younger ones like Stargirl, Jakeem Thunder, and even Black Lightning’s younger daughter, Lightning/Jennifer Pierce. As you may recall this character already exist on the Arrowverse, in The CW’s “Black Lightning” series, being portrayed by China Anne McClain. It looks like another crossover is in the works!

We love a good viral video show! Usually “America’s Funniest Home Videos,” “Jackass,” or “Ridiculousness” come into mind when we think of them. Thus, we hope this is the beginning of a new gig for Nick and new show for Fox. It will definitely bring some diversity to the content of the network. As you may already know Fox is largely dramas, a few comedies, animated series, and reality shows.

Netflix is really moving into a new frontier with its reality series. As you recall, earlier this year the network debuted “Rhythm + Flow,” a music competition series to rave reviews.
