Mary Jane is back and on track for eight weeks of what will be a racy and riveting drama! Gabrielle Union is stellar as Mary Jane Patterson, a successful news anchor struggling to balance her romantic, personal, and career life. After the hit TV movie 4 million people viewed this Fall, BET has already picked the series of up for a second season and seems to be making it the network’s flagship show. The first official episode of the series begins where the film left off. Our heroine is still reeling from learning she was unwittingly sleeping with a married man.  Although she is eager to move on with her life, it’s apparent Andre (the cheating husband), isn’t willing to let her! He shows up to her house only to be turned away by David, another of Mary Jane’s love interest. To make matters worst his wife appears at her job demanding answers to questions that would make your ears bleed. Naturally, Mary Jane answers them truthfully and brutally, leaving little to be imagined of she and Andre’s many encounters. Perhaps the most hardcore scene of the night comes from the emotional sex she and Andre have in the gym shower! Needless he gave her the business!!!

Interestingly, the twist and turns of “Being Mary Jane” not only include her vexing love life, but the ethical demands of her career and a troubled friend. Whereas she refuses to be the reporter who does anything for a story she proves to be the “super friend, and rescue her friend from a near overdose. This latest episode only proves that being Mary Jane Patterson is anything but easy. You find yourself rooting for her to have it all, and then wishing she didn’t have any of it all because you’d love to see her rise above the drama. Well MJ all of us hopeless romantics and career driven individuals are wishing you well–at least til the season finale!

Just when we thought we were saying farewell to Netflix’s hit series, Chewing Gum, writer and star, Michaela Coel informs us that the series is NOT cancelled and will return for a third season!

Earlier this year Michaela stated the series was ending, citing the show had reached its creative peek. However, just today she revealed the good news about Chewing Gum via Twitter.

She went on to say she never talked to any publication or journalist about the future of the series.

Honestly, we really do not care who said what! We are just glad one of our favorite series is coming back for a third season. The world would be a much less funny place without Tracey Gordon and the rest of her motley crew! There is no word on a premiere date for the new season, but we will keep you posted!

WE TV is definitely home to some of television’s most popular reality series. Braxton Family Values, Mary Mary, Cutting It In The ATL, and Marriage Boot Camp are just a few of them.

However, we happened to be on set of the pilot of WE TV’s latest reality series, The Black Book, and we have to say it was lit!

The Black Book is based on a group of Atlanta authors either making moves in the book industry or beginning to make their mark. The cast consists of virtually unknown authors, but each of them have work and credentials behind their names. Last night, the pilot of the series was filmed in East Atlanta at an event, celebrating the book debut of one the cast members known as Shan. The event started off very peaceful, with most of the guests taking pictures with Shan, networking, and enjoying hors d’oeuvres.

In “real” reality show fashion things quickly became volatile. Apparently a group of women led by another cast member showed up at Shan’s event and quickly became loud and disrespectful. Despite others’ attempts to quell the nonsense mayhem quickly ensued and spilled over into the streets! The police became involved, but we managed to grab this quick video from the fight. Check it out below!

Crazy right? Well we can assure you no one was arrested, but we were there for PR work when all of this broke out. We hope the show will be balanced in its portrayal of the authors, especially with them being Black authors (and our very own Mikey knowing two of them personally off camera). We have enough ratchet reality shows free flowing throughout the Metro Atlanta area. What do you guys think? Will you be tuning in to The Black Book? Just think, this is the pilot episode!

Several months ago, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that the company would be launching its very own streaming service which is expected to launch in 2019. Disney also revealed their intention to produce their own original content for the service, including films and TV series, which leaves Netflix’s Disney produced Marvel shows in an awkward position.

According to a report by the Wall Street Journal (via /Film), any future Marvel shows will play exclusively on Disney’s streaming service, and although there’s no word on whether Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders, and The Punisher will be following them, it’s probably a good bet that they will at some point. The WSJ also confirms that Disney’s attempt to purchase much of Twentieth Century Fox was part of their plan to compete with Netflix. “[W]e’ve turned our attention to the one platform seeing growth challenges,” Disney Chief Strategy Officer Kevin Mayer said in the WSJ article. “That’s the television platform.” Had the Fox deal gone ahead, it would have given Disney control of much of Fox’s TV shows, which they likely would have then moved over to their streaming service. Mayer added that he doesn’t think of Disney’s new service as “an anti-Netflix move,” but rather as a “pro-Disney move.” Bringing all of Disney’s movies and TV shows under one roof won’t be cheap, as the WSJ claims that it will end up costing Disney more then $300 million a year.

Honestly we do not care where the new Marvel shows air as long as Disney keeps making them! It is rumored that new superheroes getting their own shows on Disney’s streaming service will include Moon Knight, Ghost Rider, and Ms. Marvel. We will keep you posted!
