Before I start getting hate mail from people; listen to Bri Biase! I am a huge fan of rap. I rap and write myself so I take this craft very serious. I know we have Lisa “Left-Eye” Lopez, Rasheeda, Diamond and Princess … I’m telling you Bri Biase has the swag, lyrical placement, confidence, and charisma to be the next thing smoking. Bars I tell you and If you don’t believe me check out the videos below and let me know what you think.

“Hard To Kill” – Bri Biase @bribiase

On “Hard To Kill” don’t let her PERIODS confuse you with the City Girls. Biase gives me Thee Stallion mixed with a little Kash Doll. Long story short there is a comfortable spot for her in the game. The beat is fire and her lyrics are always catchy and relatable.

Nobody Told Me” – Bri Biase @bribiase

“Nobody Told Me” is that catchy song you can’t get out your head. Bri uses auto tune to add an extra layer to an already made hit. Won’t be shocked if this a fan favorite. I’ve already downloaded her whole last album and this song is the one I can play to everybody. Anyone I’ve played this song to can’t deny the talent. This track is definitely a “club banger”.

“Bands” Envy P feat. Bri Biase @bribiase

On “Bands” Bri Biase is featured. Envy P did his thing but having Bri come in and finish the track was exactly what the we needed. I always look for my favorite artist to deliver on features and boy did she ever. She took the song to a new level and this my favorite verse from her. The song is catchy of course but I couldn’t wait to hear Biase and mama was ready!

I know we all are particular when it comes to artist we Stan for. But y’all better jump on this wave now while you can. She’s a strong chocolate sister. The talent is there. The content is there. Biase is also very loving to her fans … what’s not to like? Don’t get caught sleeping! She can give your favorite rapper, female or male, and run for their money.  Go download “Beauty Bars & Bullsh!t” now!

Her Power! Busiswa (@busiswaah) is Busy w/ The Beyhive!

A lot of us are raised listening to certain artist or certain genres. We are then conditioned to compare these artist to others just to realize that they are all unique in their own way. In 2014, I booked a ticket to South Africa and while I was there I got invited to a New Years event. The venue was outside and there were thousands of South Africans anxiously waiting. The whole crew and I went through VIP where we ran into several South African artist. None more important than Busiswa Gqulu.

Busi was born in Mthatha, Eastern Cape, South Africa. She was very well-mannered and super sweet to me. That changed suddenly when she was called to the stage to perform. When I tell y’all she ate it, she finished the whole plate! The energy she gave on stage was unlike any I had seen. Her authenticity completely shined through, backup dancers were on point, and though I couldn’t understand most of her lyrics I was thoroughly entertained.

Busiswa feat. DJ Buckz “Lahla”

The first song I ever heard from Busi was “Lahla”. Like I said before I didn’t understand most of the song initially but that did not stop me from moving my body. The song is super catchy and coming from America it has all the African flavor I need. Plus the dancing in the video is EVERYTHING. I see you Ashwin Bosman.

Prince Kaybee ft Busiswa & TNS “Banomoya”

Now I’m not gonna lie, I don’t know the English translation for any of these lyrics and honestly I don’t need them. The video and song make me feel like I’m in Black Panther 3. Busi slays again and I am completely here for my chocolate sister setting the whole mood. This track is super smooth and easy to love.

Beyonce feat Moonchild, Busiswa, Tierra Whack & Nija – My Power

If you haven’t heard Beyonce’s latest album then shame on you. But never fear I do have a track from the album called “My Power”. While listening to the song you can instantly point out Busiswa. Her swag is always felt in whatever song she’s in. Sometimes African music can be mistaken for not being modern. This is not that and not to take anything away from Bey but Busi completely delivered and set the tone for the whole track in my opinion. This is one of my favorite songs to date and my personal favorite on the album.

I am so proud of Busi! It is very hard to become mainstream in Africa and mama is making it look so damn easy. Follow her now before its too late. Long story short if you don’t know about Busiswa, you better catch up. Beyonce has.

[ALBUM REVIEW] “85 To Africa” to Hit! Jidenna’s (@Jidenna)Whole Album is a MOOD!

It has been awhile since the “Classic Man, Jidenna, delivered us new music, but his new, sophomore album, 85 To Africa, was well worth the weight! Jidenna has shed the pomade, suits, cane, and casket fresh vests in change for African print attire, braids, and an “awokeness” that the culture is in need of.
Grade: A+

The album is one of this artist truly exploring and learning about himself by reconnecting to his African roots, speaking his mind unadulterated, and celebrating his life and those who love and celebrate him. This album is an ode to the old school link up with strong sentiments of community, real self-actualization, and not to mention an earthiness we cannot help but find appealing. Jidenna is a true jewel to the world of rap and hip-hop, and 85 To Africa, is a direct road map to his soul. Kudos, Jidenna, kudos!

Let’s hear it for good times and even greater music! Yes, the indie world is buzzing in part thanks to one rising star and dynamic artists, MISStress! MISStress has been in the Atlanta music scene for awhile making a name for herself with catchy singles, hardcore lyrics, and a desire for greatness matched by few other artists–independent or mainstream! Now The Muses have heard us and they are back with new music and a hot, new album in Missundastood!

misstress missundastood

MISStress sent over two of her newest tracks, Panties On The Floor and What You Gone Do to us and we have to admit they have been in circulation on our phones and in our cars throughout the day. Everthing just flows when it comes to the songs, giving us a Trina meets City Girls kind of vibe. MISStress stands out, however, in being a non-gender confirming artist, living their truth. However, even though they do not identify as transgender, they support and love all members of the LGBT family. “I’ve been doing music for about six years now and it is as much a part of my life as anything else. This album is one a lot of people can relate to because we have all in some way, fashion, or form been misunderstood or misjudged…I want people to continue getting to know the real me through my music and just know there’s nothing any of us can do if we put our minds to it.”

Missundastood is lined with a number of bops, and we definitely have a wider scope of who MISStress is and how they operate. You cannot help but admire someone who is so brave, beautiful, and most unapologetic. Courage is always a good look, and they wear it well!

You can stream Missundastood on all music streaming platforms and datpiff.com as well! Happy Listening!
