Frank Ocean where have you been? Apparently making new music! In case you missed it, the singer/rapper released a new song recently, Chanel, and it may be just what the fans wanted. Especially if you were not feeling his recent albums, Blonde and Endless.

We absolutely LOVE this track. It reminds us of the music and singles that first made us Frank Ocean fans. Frank dropped Chanel during the second episode of Blonded radio show on Apple Radio Friday and it now seems to be making waves with people everywhere. The song also has a version remixed with rapper, A$AP Rocky, which only makes it even more appealing.

Frank took to Tumblr to release the lyrics to the song in a true “artsy” kind of way:

frank ocean chanel lyrics hey mikey atl

We know that’s confusing so we have the lyrics posted on the next page. Happy listening!

[Verse 1]
My guy pretty like a girl
And he got fight stories to tell
I see both sides like Chanel
See on both sides like Chanel
Swimming laps through pool water
Heated like I’m underworld
Hide my tattoos in Shibuya
Police think I’m of the underworld
12 treat a nigga like he 12
How you looking up to me and talking down?
Can’t you see I am the big man? (Big man)
God level I am the I am (whoa)
Now film it with that drone cam
In the pink like Killa Cam
Put a zoom on that stick, Noé
Up so close I’m on that kill
Remote controller on your lower back
Yes the good
Dick could roll the eyes back in the skull
Rolling when you ride, poppin’
Rolling when you ride
Ride the Rodman
Got one that’s straight acting
Turnt out like some dirty plastic (Ride)
2016 burnt some discs
2017 ideas playing off a Walkman
This a cult not a clique on the net
With a cup in a cup, Actavis
That’s a double edge, “issa knife”
And I don’t like to fight ’til I’m fighting
Revenge in the air make my lungs sick
Chopper in the sky like a gun trick
Clips on clips like Mikey
It’s really all[Hook]
I see both sides like Chanel
See on both sides like Chanel[Bridge]
It’s really you on my mind
It’s really you on my mind
It’s really you
It’s really you on my mind[Verse 2]
V both sides of the 12
Steam both sides of the L
Freeze smoke rings and they hail
Sleet snow grind for the wealth
Whole team diamonds is real
Showed ’em how to shine by they selves
You need a cosign for your health
I need that bitch to grind on my belt
I know you need to try for my belt
I know you seen it driving itself
No matte black on the ride ’cause it’s stale
But it’s stealth

[Hook]
I see both sides like Chanel
I see both sides like Chanel

[Outro]
My pockets snug
They can’t hold my 7
They banned my Visa
My Amex and Mastercards
I got new money
And it’s all cash
I got new bags
And they all collabs
I rubber band a bunch of thousand dollar Delta gift cards
Amazing the cash online unknown
Blazing the dash counting money at home

My pockets snug
They can’t hold my 7
They banned my Visa
My Amex and Mastercards
I got new money
And it’s all cash
I got new bags
And they all collabs
I rubber band a bunch of thousand dollar Delta gift cards
Amazing the cash online unknown
Blazing the dash counting money at home

[ALBUM REVIEW] “85 To Africa” to Hit! Jidenna’s (@Jidenna)Whole Album is a MOOD!

It has been awhile since the “Classic Man, Jidenna, delivered us new music, but his new, sophomore album, 85 To Africa, was well worth the weight! Jidenna has shed the pomade, suits, cane, and casket fresh vests in change for African print attire, braids, and an “awokeness” that the culture is in need of.
Grade: A+

The album is one of this artist truly exploring and learning about himself by reconnecting to his African roots, speaking his mind unadulterated, and celebrating his life and those who love and celebrate him. This album is an ode to the old school link up with strong sentiments of community, real self-actualization, and not to mention an earthiness we cannot help but find appealing. Jidenna is a true jewel to the world of rap and hip-hop, and 85 To Africa, is a direct road map to his soul. Kudos, Jidenna, kudos!

Let’s hear it for good times and even greater music! Yes, the indie world is buzzing in part thanks to one rising star and dynamic artists, MISStress! MISStress has been in the Atlanta music scene for awhile making a name for herself with catchy singles, hardcore lyrics, and a desire for greatness matched by few other artists–independent or mainstream! Now The Muses have heard us and they are back with new music and a hot, new album in Missundastood!

MISStress sent over two of her newest tracks, Panties On The Floor and What You Gone Do to us and we have to admit they have been in circulation on our phones and in our cars throughout the day. Everthing just flows when it comes to the songs, giving us a Trina meets City Girls kind of vibe. MISStress stands out, however, in being a non-gender confirming artist, living their truth. However, even though they do not identify as transgender, they support and love all members of the LGBT family. “I’ve been doing music for about six years now and it is as much a part of my life as anything else. This album is one a lot of people can relate to because we have all in some way, fashion, or form been misunderstood or misjudged…I want people to continue getting to know the real me through my music and just know there’s nothing any of us can do if we put our minds to it.”

Missundastood is lined with a number of bops, and we definitely have a wider scope of who MISStress is and how they operate. You cannot help but admire someone who is so brave, beautiful, and most unapologetic. Courage is always a good look, and they wear it well!

You can stream Missundastood on all music streaming platforms and datpiff.com as well! Happy Listening!

“Ghosted,” as defined by Psychology Today, “is having someone that you believe cares about you, whether it be a friend or someone you are dating, disappear from contact without any explanation at all.”  This is a term many people, especially millennials know all too well. In fact, if you watched the third season of HBO’s Insecure, the series’ protagonist, Issa [Rae], was ghosted on by Nathan (Kendrick Sampson) the first guy she was ready to be in a relationship with. Chris’s Ghosted definitely touches on the sorrow and confusion that comes from left in the wind.

Check out the lyrics below:

We have to say we love this song! Unfortunately, after being ghosted on a few times it is all too relatable. The confusion, angst, sorrow, pain…it’s all there. This should definitely be on some millennial show. Maybe BET’s new hit, Boomerang? Chris has confirmed he does have a full fledged album coming soon. If his other tracks are as moving as this one we will be sure to listen and have some Kleenex on hand. Congrats Chris!

What do you all think of Chris June’s new single? Sound off in the comments’ section below!
