Dynamite and out of sight! Look out world! Eddie Murphy is “Dolemite!” Netflix has outdone itself once again with surprisingly great biopic of Rudy Ray Moore, the comedian behind the character of Dolemite, a fan favorite of the seventies when Blaxploitation ruled Black Cinema and being fly with an even flier rap game was the way to gather the crowds. The dramatic comedy, Dolemite Is My Name, is so much more than that. In fact its a true story of how Rudy ever gave up on his dreams no matter what anyone said or did. To many, Rudy was too corny, to poor, too Black, too fat, or not charming enough. However, what he was, was FUNNY and relatable.

Eddie Murphy has starred in a number of films, but very few have used his natural comedic talent to tell a real story. Seeing him star as Dolemite takes us back to when he was “Jimmy Early'” in “Dreamgirls” (2006).  Both characters are charismatic and hungry for fame and success, but only one of them–Rudy–was a real person. When you watch the film you will get a real sense of who he was and not simply a hustler, but a dreamer. Someone most of us millennials can identify with. Also, Rudy did not just make it on his own. He used the technique Issa Rae coined so famously last year of “reaching across the table,”  using his family, friends, and cohorts (hilariously portrayed by the likes of Wesley Snipes, Mike Epps,  Keegan-Michael Key, Tituss Burgess, Luenell,  and Da’Vine Joy Randolph) to create his own film, get the funding, and amass a following.

We may catch some heat for this, but Eddie deserves some kind of reward for his portrayal of Rudy Ray Moore. He did an amazing job, showing his acting skills are nothing to shrug at.  You can catch Dolemite Is My Name in limited theatrical release October 4th, and streaming on Netflix beginning October 25th! Happy Viewing!

On Tuesday, Paramount Pictures debuted the famous cartoon’s design changes with a new official trailer for the Sega video game-inspired film, after initial reactions to the original design released in April caused an internet frenzy. Fans blasted the old trailer for portraying Sonic as “human-like” and were particularly upset about Sonic’s realistic looking teeth and shapely legs, Vulture reported.

Now, the electric blue hedgehog has been reimagined to look more like the traditional cartoon character — boasting larger, more animated eyes, white gloves instead of white hands, thin legs and all-around less human-like features.

Director Jeff Fowler confirmed in April that the movie would be delayed by three months after receiving backlash about Sonic’s appearance.

Check out a few fan reactions:

We have to say we are here for this makeover and the studio listening to the fans. Sonic The Hedgehog is one of the greatest and most beloved characters in the world we always want him done right! We will keep you posted as more news about the movie comes forward.

Although his Iron Man tenure propelled him to the top of Hollywood’s A-list, Robert Downey Jr. has always been humble about his recent success. Perhaps this is reason he declined the chance to pursue a Best Actor Oscar for his role in Avengers: Endgame. Regardless, it looks like Disney and Marvel have chosen to go against Downey’s wishes. Collider brings word that the studios are submitting his name for consideration at next year’s Oscars ceremony after all.

Rather than Best Actor in a Leading Role, Disney is pushing to have Downey nominated for Best Supporting Actor. What’s surprising is that Downey isn’t the only actor being submitted for consideration in this category. The studio is also launching campaigns for Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Josh Brolin, Paul Rudd, and Don Cheadle.

Honestly, we could have seen him nominated for the Best Actor category as well. There was a lot emotion put into his final bout as the Golden Avenger, especially when he sacrificed himself in that final scene to defeat Thanos, uttering “I am Iron Man.” It is only a matter of time before some superhero film achieves Oscar gold in one of the big categories. Black Panther  was nominated for  a number of awards at the last Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse took him an Oscar for best animated film. The clock’s ticking…

Even after the passing of Wes Craven, Ghostface continues to live on.

Bloody Disgusting can exclusively report that Gary Barber’s Spyglass Media Group is currently developing the next Scream, based on the franchise created by Craven and writer Kevin Williamson.

While Craven had directed all four Scream films before his passing, various filmmakers would get behind the camera for a television series that ran for two seasons on MTV and a third on VH1.

All four films remained canon while the series would create its own mythology. It’s unclear if the next film will continue to be canonized within Craven’s universe or be a remake, but we are hearing that, as of this writing, Williamson is not writing the screenplay.

Neve Campbell as “Sidney Prescott”

There is no word if the star of the films, Neve Campbell, will reprise her role as “Sidney Prescott.” We are definitely hoping Neve, and of course, Courteney Cox and David Arquette, as “Gail” and “Dooley,” respectively. We will keep you posted as more news on the film develops!
