Batman and Robin, Captain America and Bucky, Green Arrow and Speedy–these are just a few of comics’ greatest Dynamic Duos. Each of these pairings have the power, bond, and means to overcome just about any obstacle, but can they maintain a romance simultaneously? That’s where Marvel Comics’ Ant-Man & The Wasp come into place! These pint-sized heroes have finally made their paired debut on the Big Screen with lots of laugh, loves, and even BIGGER action!

When we last saw Scott Lang, aka the second “Ant-Man,” he was in Captain America: Civil War, where he was recruited by Captain America to fight off Iron Man and a few other heroes to save Winter Soldier and stop Baron Zemo. However, Scott was subsequently arrested for his actions and placed on house arrest for two years, alienating himself from Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), the original Ant-Man and his daughter, Hope Van Dyne. Flash forward to present day and Hope has become a superhero herself, operating with her father and utilizing a modified version of her mother, Janet’s (Michelle Phifer), Wasp suit equipped with wings and “stingers” that can fire blasts of electrical energy. Hank may have discovered a means of rescuing Janet from the Quantum Universe just as the latter telepathically reaches out to Scott. Hope and Hank reluctantly enlist Scott’s help in saving her, but a mysterious villain with quantum powers of her own, Ghost, wants their technology for herself. Scott and Hope will have to team up as Ant-Man and Wasp to not only save Janet, but keep Hank’s shrinking technology out of the government and organized crimes’ clutches!

We have to say this film was pretty good. The story line and plot prove that Marvel can still do some pretty awesome smaller movies after Avengers: Infinity War–which, without spoiling anything, will play a part in this film. However, the real star of the film is Evangeline Lilly’s Wasp! She not only proved herself to be a superior fighter, hero, and partner, but kept us on our toes. She could definitely go toe to toe with Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow! Paul Rudd is definitely the funny man in the film as Scott/Ant-Man, and we definitely love the humor, but we would really have liked to see his character cut loose a little more.

Marvel definitely is working on how it deals with its villains. Alas, we have another villain we can sympathize with in “Ghost” (Hannah John-Kamen). Making the character female and placing her fighting skills on par with Wasp’s gave us the rivalry we live for. Also, those phasing powers were pretty amazing–Shadowcat or Phantom Girl much? Bill Foster’s (Lawrence Fishburne) appearance was also amazing. In the comics he is Goliath, with a power set similar to Giant-Man’s, is one of Marvel’s first Black superheroes.

All in all, we are definitely hoping for another Ant-Man and Wasp film IF the ramifications of another Marvel event are rectified. Were you marked safe during Infinity War?

Domestic violence is never a laughing matter. However, it is a harrowing problem in our society that affects millions of people across the world. Each case is different, and some are so violent and saddistic that it defies human logic. One filmmaker, Trayvon Williams, is shedding light on one such violent case that went viral forever changing the life of a young Black woman, Porsha Daniels.

The story takes place on February 4, 2015; when Porsha’s ex-boyfriend, Nathaniel Davis, brutally attacked and stabbed her and her current boyfriend, Searrier Smith, after breaking into her Houston, Texas apartment. Porsha sustained severe injuries from 22 stab wounds, which according to reports left her nearly decapitated. She underwent a number of surgeries, but was ultimately left paralyzed, missing a kidney, and most of her intestines gone. Searrier, however, did not survive.

Trayvon decided to make this tragedy the source of his film due to his own experiences with domestic violence. “…I chose this case/ story about Porsha Daniels because I knew her personally. She went to high school with me. She reached out to ask me if I could tell her story for her. After seeing the pictures of her, and reading her story, I realized that like most women they don’t get out soon enough after seeing the signs. After being gone from Houston for almost 10 years; I realizes there’s a lot I didn’t know about the women in my family. Most of them have been abused by a man and never said anything to anyone. It’s almost like it’s a regular thing . Really the problem is stemming from an old mentality . Most older women in my family were abused, and most of them stayed. They passed that down generations and this was my way to bring it to light and hopefully I can spark conversation to women across the world through my art. Her story went viral in 2015. I was in LA when I first saw it. I couldn’t believe it because  it was so close to home. I saw my biological mom be abused as well…

February’s Pain is currently in development. It is set to be released as a full feature film in February 2020, with his production company “The Pioneers Collective LLC.” Stay tuned to HeyMikeyATL for more updates!

This new suspenseful, supernatural thriller is not one to miss! “Don’t Let Go” is sure to be a hit at the box office, as it thrills the Bronze Lens Film Festival.

As the tenth year anniversary for the festival, this film sure did set the tone for the rest of this annual event. Kicking off the festival, this supernatural film stars actors David Oyelowo from “Selma” and Storm Reid from “A Wrinkle in Time”. Oyelowo plays the role of Jack Radcliff. Jack is a detective apart of the L.A.P.D. who receives an unexpected phone call from his recently murdered niece Ashley, played by Reid. Crazy thing is, he receives the call two weeks after her death.

As the story unfolds, we discover that throughout figuring out the mystery of the murder, Jack reconnects with his niece in quite the supernatural way. However, with him only being able to accept incoming calls from her, he finds himself experiencing random flashbacks.

As he navigates through the both realities, Jack realizes that in order to save his niece, she has to retrace her own steps & follow his direction. The film is truly reminiscent of the term “trans-temporal projection”. It relates to the transcendence of time, time travel & both the influence and communication of the lapse in time. The film was written and directed by Jacob Aaron Estes.

Without giving too much away, this is truly one film that will leave you wanting more. With the countless amount of cliff hangers, this film makes the mind wonder, and keeps you guessing. From the level of acting, to the script writing, it’s an amazingly thrilling body of work. The film releases in theaters everywhere on August 30. Make sure you get your tickets, because this is going to be one for the books.

Sad Day! Marvel Studios Loses Rights to Spider-Man, After Deal Dissolves…

Fans everywhere rejoiced as Disney bought out Twentieth Century Fox subsequently gaining movie rights for the X-Men, Fantastic Four, Ghost Rider, and a few other Marvel and superhero properties. Just a few years beforehand the Mickey Mouse company reached a deal with Sony to add Spider-Man to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with rave reviews, even making him an Avenger. Those days are seemingly behind us as Sony has decided to no longer allow Marvel Studios to use the Webslinger in anymore of its films as the two companies have failed to come to a licensing agreement.

Apparently Disney was only making five percent of the take from Spider-Man films released under Marvel Studios, and were now seeking to make it a 50/50 split in revenue. Sony has trashed the deal.

Kevin Feige, the president of Disney-owned Marvel Studios, will no longer produce the “Spider-Man” movies released by rival studio Sony Pictures after the two companies failed to come to a new agreement, according to three people familiar with the matter who were not authorized to comment.

Disney, which had a major hand in producing megahits “Spider-Man: Homecoming” and its recent sequel “Far From Home,” wanted to take a 50% co-financing stake in future “Spider-Man” films, these people said. But Sony, which is riding high on the success of the Spider-Man movies, was unwilling to give up such a large portion of its most valuable franchise.

Another major factor in negotiations was the growing demands on Feige’s time, said people with knowledge of the situation.

Disney wants the highly successful producer to focus on the Marvel characters it owns, which recently expanded to include the “X-Men” characters. Disney acquired the “X-Men” rights as part of its purchase of 20th Century Fox. Feige also has been tasked with shepherding a significant lineup of original Marvel Studios shows for the company’s all-important streaming service Disney+, which is expected to launch Nov. 12 in a high-stakes gamble to take on Netflix.

Also on Feige’s plate: building the next phase of Marvel movies, including the long-anticipated “Black Widow” feature and a fourth “Thor” film. It’s unclear how, exactly, Spider-Man would have fit into the next round of Marvel Studios movies if the studios had been able to reach a deal.

This is really upsetting to fans everywhere. We wish Sony could have budged a little on this agreement, especially since its previous Spider-Man films have been so lackluster in comparison to the recent ones under Marvel’s prodction. Get back to the drawing board Marvel and Sony we need Spider-Man in the MCU!
