Our favorite “Pitches” are back in Pitch Perfect 3!

The Bellas are scattered and have learned that real life post-college and winning the World Championship is not all it is cracked up to be. Becca (Anna Kendrick) in particular is frustrated with her job as a producer, wanting to make real music and be a real artist. The Bellas began to feel hopeful when they reunite overseas USO, but soon find they may be over their heads as the other bands seem to be just as good–if not better–than they are at their signature cover songs! The grand prize for the winner of the tour is none other than a recording contract. It willl take everything The Bellas have and more to pull this show off!

pitch perfect 3

If you have seen the previous Pitch Perfect movies then you can assume the actors are hilarious, the jokes are quirky and corny, and the story line pretty much the same. Also if you have seen the other movies in the musical comedic trilogy,  then you are definitely a fan of the creative musical play on your favorite songs, watching “Fat Amy fight” and that good feeling when the “happy ending” includes fairness and love. Pitch Perfect 3 was everything you’d expect with a few things that caught me by surprise. DJ Khalid? Trinidad James? Why? I mean Khalid was Khalid so you’d expect nothing less but Trinidad James in a Pitch Perfect movie is just so unexpected! “Popped a molly I’m sweatin’, whoo” I nearly lost it when he jumped into the battle with The Bellas.  Either way there were several familiar faces and a very talented cast. We are really going to miss The Bellas, their song battle, and hijinks. Hopefully Fat Amy (Rebel Wilson) or someone else will get a spin off film! #FingersCrossed!

Overall if you love musical comedies you will definitely enjoy Pitch Perfect 3. In theaters Friday, December 22, 2017.

“BIG” Fun! Marsai Martin, Regina Hall & Issa Rae Are Quite The Odd Trio in “Little!”

Dear Will Packer, how many comedies are you go to make us fall in love with? Well we definitely know the hit comedy train is not stopping with his newest comedy, Little!  The film centers on software tycoon, Jordan Sanders (Regina Hall)  who is wildly successful and hilariously selfish. Her assistant, April (Issa Rae), is an aspiring app maker and spends most of her time catering to Jordan’s every need and forewarning the staff of her wrath. Jordan’s temper is “i” when a magical spell from an angry kid turns her back into her younger, “Little,” self (Marsai Martin)!  April and Little Jordan Sanders must find away to undo the magic that has made her  a kid again, avoid the pitfalls of middle school life, all the while coming up with a pitch that will save her company from ruin!

regina hall litttle movie

We have to say we were more than a “Little” charmed with Little. The movie definitely connects with your inner child and jump starts the woes and fears that come from working for an overbearing and demanding boss. Regina, Issa, and Marsai are all brilliant actresses and their comedic chemistry is definitely one for the ages. You honestly have never seen Regina in a role like this, but Marsai’s role definitely reeds “Diane Johnson” gone “Angry Boss!” Issa is still “Insecure” as April, but she more than proves she has what it takes to become a boss and boss around a mini-boss. You just be sure to catch Little in theaters everywhere TODAY!

Grade: B+

What We Liked

marsai martin little movie

-Regina Hall as Jordan Sanders! We have never seen her as an angry boss in all the years she has been acting!

-Little Jordan’s school arc. Seeing her connect with her new friends was nothing short of heartwarming.

-Tone Bell as “Preston.” Tone was hilarious as April’s love interest. Although we are not sure if their budding relationship wouldn’t be an HR issue….

What We Loved

issa rae and marsai martin little movie

-Marsai Martin is an amazing actress! We cannot wait to see where her career will take her next.

-Luke James’ strip tease. It was PG though…

-Justin Hartley as Little Jordan’s teacher. Can we go back to middle school?

us movie opening weekend

Let’s lay out some pretty amazing facts about Us’ $70 million weekend. That is the highest opening ever for an original “R”-rated film. The 11 “R” films to open higher were either sequels or adapted from popular books. Us is also the biggest opening ever for an original live-action film in March and an original horror film in any month. Only It and last year’s Halloween opener higher. But…can it outgross Get Out‘s $176 million?

Us has already doubled Get Out’s $33.4 million opening. A good start indeed. It is the 142nd film to open with $65 million or more. Of those previous 141 films, do you know how many failed to reach the $176 million earned by Get Out? Six. (Fifty Shades of Grey, Halloween 2018, Fast and FuriousQuantum of Solace,X-Men: Apocalypse2012). That is already 95.7% in favor of Us besting Get Out’s total. The number to watch next week when Dumbo knocks Us back to second is whether its second weekend is over or under $28 million.

We are clapping all the way to the bank for Jordan Peele! Yet again, movie trackers are bad at predicting what will be a hit or not. Social media indicated just what a buzz this film had around it, thus we are not surprised! What do you guys think of Us? Sound off in the comments’ section below!

[REVIEW] Riveting! The Truth About Jordan Peele’s “Us” (@UsMovie) is SHOCKING!

The American horror film genre has always been crazy, but seldom has been it been BLACK! Award winning director, screenwriter, and comedian, Jordan Peele has been changing the color of the genre with Get Out and now, Us! Us, starring Black Panther alumni, Lupita Nyong’o and Winston Duke, centers on a Black family visiting their summer home who soon finds themselves in danger from their doppelgangers (n. an apparition or double of a living person)! The family must outmaneuver these unexplained duplicates and fight for their loves. The origins of these apparitions is so sci-fi it will defy logic!

What We Liked

-The concept of fighting your doppelganger! They say you are your own worst enemy. This was definitely the case in this film.

-The origins of the doppelgangers. Beware of playing God!

-Lupita Nyong’o taking on the final girl moments of the film.

What We Loved

-The bumbling nature of Gabe Wilson (Winston Duke) was maddening, but hilarious.

-The use of rabbits as a motif of duplication and cloning

-The acting of the cast. They really played two separate people. From their make up to their demeanor, and even how they moved was so believable it will leave you wondering do you have your own doppelganger.

-The symbolization of the golden scissors in “un-tethering” people from their doppelgangers.

-The ending and explanation as to why the attacks started and the truth of Adelaide Wilson’s (Lupita Nyong’o) origins.

What We Hated

-We really wanted to see a typical Black Family’s reaction to something like this. Their response seemed very stereotypical and “Caucasian” of the horror film genre.
