The loss of a loved one is something you never truly get over. The grief, the sadness, the hindsight of thinking you could have done something to averted their demise. Now think of the fantastic. What if you had a way to jump backwards in time to the day they died? What if you could save them? Herein lies the premise of See You Yesterday produced by Spike Lee. Two gifted children, CJ (Eden Duncan-Smith), and her best friend, Sebastian (DanteCrichlow) build a pair of time machines to save the life of CJ’s older brother, Calvin (Astro) after he becomes another young, unarmed Black man killed by law enforcement.

See You Yesterday is just as thrilling as it sounds, but based on the trailer we can tell that saving Calvin’s life will not be easy. You can get in on the action three days earlier than your friend, however, if you answer the FIVE following questions CORRECTLY!

  1. What is the name of the Netflix series by Spike Lee with the character, “Nola Darling?”
  2. What movie did Spike Lee win an Academy Award for?
  3. Who wrote the book, “The Time Machine?”
  4. Name a movie that involves time travel
  5. What is Spike Lee’s Real Name

Answer all the questions above by sending your answers to heymikeyatl@gmail.com, only the FIRST TEN RESPONDERS will when the passes for a screening of See You Yesterday on Tuesday, May 14 at 7:00PM at Cinebistro Town Brookhaven (1004 Town Blvd, Atlanta, GA 30319. Be sure you catch the film debuting nationwide on Netflix, Friday, May 17th and check out the website,  netflix.com/seeyouyesterday! “The message is loud and clear,” Jeff Fowler tweeted Thursday. “You aren’t happy with the design & you want changes. It’s going to happen. Everyone at Paramount & Sega are fully committed to making this character the BEST he can be.”

Fowler, a visual effects artist who’s making his directorial debut with the “Sonic” film, included the hashtag #gottafixfast.

Social media users complained about the CGI look of the titular hero, with the character’s human-style teeth drawing the most flak. Video game blog Kotaku compiled some of the most entertaining reactions.

Fowler did not specify what changes are in store for the film, which is scheduled to hit theaters on November 8.

We have to say Sonic’s appearance in the film is lackluster to say the least, we are looking forward to seeing what changes–and we hope they are sweeping–are made! What do you guys think about Sonic and his first movie trailer? Leave your thoughts in the comments’ section below!

We have to say we were more than a “Little” charmed with Little. The movie definitely connects with your inner child and jump starts the woes and fears that come from working for an overbearing and demanding boss. Regina, Issa, and Marsai are all brilliant actresses and their comedic chemistry is definitely one for the ages. You honestly have never seen Regina in a role like this, but Marsai’s role definitely reeds “Diane Johnson” gone “Angry Boss!” Issa is still “Insecure” as April, but she more than proves she has what it takes to become a boss and boss around a mini-boss. You just be sure to catch Little in theaters everywhere TODAY!

Grade: B+

What We Liked

marsai martin little movie

-Regina Hall as Jordan Sanders! We have never seen her as an angry boss in all the years she has been acting!

-Little Jordan’s school arc. Seeing her connect with her new friends was nothing short of heartwarming.

-Tone Bell as “Preston.” Tone was hilarious as April’s love interest. Although we are not sure if their budding relationship wouldn’t be an HR issue….

What We Loved

-Marsai Martin is an amazing actress! We cannot wait to see where her career will take her next.

-Luke James’ strip tease. It was PG though…

What We Liked

-The concept of fighting your doppelganger! They say you are your own worst enemy. This was definitely the case in this film.

-The origins of the doppelgangers. Beware of playing God!

-Lupita Nyong’o taking on the final girl moments of the film.

What We Loved

-The bumbling nature of Gabe Wilson (Winston Duke) was maddening, but hilarious.

-The use of rabbits as a motif of duplication and cloning

-The acting of the cast. They really played two separate people. From their make up to their demeanor, and even how they moved was so believable it will leave you wondering do you have your own doppelganger.

-The symbolization of the golden scissors in “un-tethering” people from their doppelgangers.

-The ending and explanation as to why the attacks started and the truth of Adelaide Wilson’s (Lupita Nyong’o) origins.

What We Hated

-We really wanted to see a typical Black Family’s reaction to something like this. Their response seemed very stereotypical and “Caucasian” of the horror film genre.
