November is going to be one epic month! Not only are we treated to seeing the Justice League, an epic superhero movie, but one that stars five of DC Comics’ greatest heroes–Batman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, The Flash, and Aquaman–as they band together to protect the Earth from an alien invasion.

This invasion, however, is from Apokolips, a dark world, ruled by a darker lord. The first wave of the invasion is led by Steppenwolf, a “new god,” bent on the destruction/subjugation of Earth.

When we last saw our heroes, Batman and Wonder Woman had just helped Superman defeat Doomsday at the cost of the latter’s life. Inspired by Superman and finding his faith in humanity once again, Batman allies himself with Wonder Woman to recruit the others in an attempt to save the planet.

Now, we have to admit the Justice League does seem a bit incomplete without Superman, but the latest trailer from the film hints that the Man of Steel may be making at the very least a surprise appearance. We can see from the trailer, not only Steppenwolf, but a horde of Parademons–demonic shock troopers designed to overwhelm their enemies and overtake whole worlds. Our heroes do not seem like they will be alone, however, as it looks like Wonder Woman’s Amazonian sisters will be coming to her aide as well. This will indeed be a class of the titans as a Dark Knight, Goddess of Truth, Crimson Speedster, a living computer, and a Sea King join forces to literally stop Hell on Earth!

You can catch the Justice League in theaters everywhere on Friday, November 17, 2017!

The film is set in the nineties and centers on Air Force pilot, Carol Danvers (Brie Larson), who goes missing in action, and returns to Earth with super powers after an encounter and experimentation by an alien race known as The Kree. She returns to Earth partly amnesiac, with few memories of her life.

She is later discovered by a disillusioned Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), he soon realizes she may be Earth’s only hope when the planet finds itself caught in the interstellar war between The Kree and their archenemies the shape-shifting race known as The Skrulls!

From the trailer we can see that Captain Marvel is invulnerable, can fire energy blasts, fly, and possesses superhuman strength, speed, and agility. She is rumored to be the most powerful hero in the MCU and very well may be what other superheroes need to stop Thanos and restore the universe after the events of Avengers: Infinity War. We loved seeing appearances from The Kree, Skrulls, and even the original Captain Marvel, Mar-Vell, portrayed by Jude Law!

Captain Marvel has to be one of the most highly anticipated superhero films to date, and may be Marvel Studio’s answer to Warner Bros.’ Wonder Woman. It stands as the first female-led superhero film from this particular studio, which is progressive, but surprising. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has other strong female leads, namely Black Widow, who many thought would have had her own standalone film. Perhaps this will open the door for more super-heroines!  What do you guys think of the trailer? Sound off in the comments’ section below!

[REVIEW] Crazy–Rich–Fun! “Crazy Rich Asians” (@CrazyRichMovie) is Summer 2018’s Close Out Hit!

It is hard to believe it has been twenty-five years since we have seen a movie with an all-Asian cast. There are so many talented Asian actors that it seems rather absurd. Then, usually when we think of Asian dominated films we think of period pieces like The Joy Luck Club or Memoirs of a Geisha. However, one new movie, based off the best-selling novel, Crazy Rich Asians, is making waves with critics everywhere and we are here for it!

Crazy Rich Asians centers on Rachel Chu (Constance Wu) a gifted economics professor at New York University who unbeknownst to her lands millionaire playboy, Nick Young (Henry Golding), as her boyfriend. Rachel soon learns of what it means to be in Henry’s world when she travels to Singapore with him to attend his best friend’s wedding and meet his family. She soon learns the intricacies, relationships, forged by Nick’s family are not only steeped in tradition, but at times hostile; especially when it comes to his mother Eleanor Young (Michelle Yeoh) of her.

This film truly had something for everyone. We love the romance, drama, comedy, and sense of family we got from it. The cast was stellar and we were introduced to some pretty amazing actors. Constance and Henry have natural, believable chemistry as Rachel and Nick. We are not sure if they are dating in real life, but we would love it if they were.

Jemma Chan as "Astrid Leong" in "Crazy Rich Asians" movie

Our two other favorite characters are none other than “Astrid Leong” and “Goh Peik Lin” played by Jemma Chan and Awkwafina, respectively. Jemma is BEAUTIFUL! As Astrid she is classic, regal, and well put together–the epitome of poise. Her character’s development is nothing short of moving. Meanwhile Awkwafina’s character can definitely be described as an “Asian Tiffany Haddish, (Girls Trip style)!”

This movie is definitely one to support. As minorities representation and inclusion are very important. We definitely recognized this with Marvel’s Black Panther earlier this year and now it is time to show our Asian brothers and sisters the same love. We did it and they will too!

We are definitely going to see Crazy Rich Asians again and this time we are bringing ALL our friends. Singapore trip, anyone? Catch this movie in theaters everywhere, Wednesday, August 15th!
