Disney dropped some amazing news when the company announced, Halle Bailey, half of the R & B singing duo, discovered by Beyonce, Chloe x Halle, has been casted as “Ariel” in the live action The Little Mermaid remake. The reception to this news has been greatly positive with many stating as a fictional character, Ariel is not a real person, leaving the actress who would portray her open to interpretation. However, other fans of the original movie feel otherwise–becoming quite hateful with their rebukes of the live action reboot!

Check out a few of the tweets below:

As much hate as these racist comments and trolls gave, these was even more love from Black Twitter and many media outlets praising Disney for their diversity casting. Halle will star alongside Melissa McCarthy who has been tapped to play the sea witch, Ursula; and Jacob Tremblay and Awkwafina to play Flounder and Scuttle, respectively. What do you guys think of Disney’s casting decision for The Little Mermaid. Are you down for our next trip “Under The Sea?”

“Like A Boss” is definitely going to be one of the funniest and dynamic films of 2020. This cast is stellar, and the film comes off as “Girls Trip” meets “Bad Bosses!” Nevertheless, any film showing women in power and doing it big is a cause for celebration!

“The cape is in the closet,” Cavill said in Mens’ Health’s December cover story. “It’s still mine. I’m not going to sit quietly in the dark as all the stuff is going on. I’ve not given up the role. There’s a lot I have to give for Superman yet. A lot of storytelling to do. A lot of real, true depths to the honest of the character I wasn’t to get into. I want to reflect the comic books. That’s important to me. There’s a lot of justice to be done for Superman. The status is: You’ll see.”

Meanwhile, Michael B. Jordan has his own plans to become the Man of Tomorrow

On a slightly more official note, Variety says Michael B. Jordan actually had a meeting with the studio earlier this year in which he pitched Warner Bros. on “a vision” for Superman.

Warner Bros. was presumably intrigued by whatever he had to say, but Jordan wouldn’t commit to a big superhero project because filming wouldn’t be able to happen for a few years and he has a bunch of things in the works already. Variety says there are no current Superman projects in development at Warner Bros., so we’ll most likely have to wait until Warner Bros. exhausts all of its other ongoing superhero projects before it considers this Michael B. Jordan movie.

Henry Cavill or Michael B. Jordan are great Supermen and honestly they can both coexist in the DCEU. As you may already know from the comics, there exists a multiverse where each universe has its own Superman. On another Earth, Calvin Ellis exists, he is Kryptonian and Superman (and President of The United States) but resembles a Black human. He is presumably from Vlathos Island, a place where traditionally dark-skinned Kryptonians lived. Thus, the Calvin Ellis version of the character could stand side by side with the traditional one. The two have teamed up before as well in the comics!

Six years after “Frozen” kicked up a pop-culture blizzard, the sequel to Elsa, Anna and Olaf’s adventures snowed-in the box office with an estimated $127 million debut domestically and $350.2 million worldwide, according to studio estimates Sunday.

The opening for the Walt Disney Co.’s “Frozen 2” buried several records. It’s the highest-grossing debut ever for any animated film globally. It marks a new high in the U.S. and Canada for an animated movie released outside of the summer season. And it’s the largest opening for any Walt Disney Animation Studios release.

Disney opted for the week ahead of Thanksgiving to open “Frozen 2,” meaning it will get a significant second week bump from kids out of school. The first “Frozen” opened over Thanksgiving, earning $93 million in five days and $67 million for the three-day weekend.

The original, though, quickly grew into a sensation, remaining in the top 10 at the box office for 17 weeks and ultimately grossing $1.27 billion. Propelled in part by the hit song “Let it Go,” “Frozen” begat a flurry of merchandizing, untold numbers of Elsa dresses and a Broadway musical. It won two Academy Awards, for best animated feature and original song.

Matching that total gross won’t be easy sledding, but “Frozen 2” has a head start. Cathleen Taff, distribution chief for Disney, granted there’s a “high bar” set by “Frozen,” but she’s confident of the film’s enormous appeal.

We have no doubt “Frozen 2” will be an even bigger hit than the original movie. This weekend will definitely prove that as families will pour into theaters with their kids to see the Elsa, Anna, and their friends venture into “The Great Unknown” beyond Arendelle.
