Ten years ago today, Christopher Nolan’s groundbreaking blockbuster “The Dark Knight” was released.  Commemorating the 10-year anniversary, Warner Bros. Pictures is bringing the film to four select IMAX® locations for an exclusive, one-week engagement, beginning August 24, 2018.  The announcement was made today by Jeff Goldstein, President Domestic Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures.

With “The Dark Knight,” Nolan broke new ground—shooting select sequences of the movie with IMAX film cameras—making “The Dark Knight” the first major feature film to utilize IMAX 70mm film and take advantage of the format’s massive scale and increased resolution.  The movie was hailed by both critics and audiences and went on to be the top-grossing release of 2008.  In the years since, Nolan has continued to pioneer the use of IMAX film cameras, employing them on an even greater scale in “The Dark Knight Rises,” as well as “Interstellar” and, most recently, “Dunkirk.”

The exclusive limited engagement will offer the public an extremely rare opportunity to see “The Dark Knight” on the biggest screens possible, as it was intended to be seen—in IMAX 70mm film—offering a uniquely immersive cinematic experience.

“The Dark Knight” will be playing for one screening a day at the following theatres:

AMC Universal Citywalk IMAX, Universal City

AMC Lincoln Square IMAX, New York City

AMC Metreon IMAX, San Francisco

Ontario Place Cinesphere IMAX, Toronto

“The Dark Knight” stars Christian Bale in the title role and Heath Ledger, who won an Oscar for his performance as The Joker.  The ensemble cast also includes Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Aaron Eckhart, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Morgan Freeman.

Nolan directed “The Dark Knight” from a screenplay written by Jonathan Nolan and Christopher Nolan, story by Christopher Nolan & David S. Goyer.  Emma Thomas, Charles Roven and Christopher Nolan produced the film.  Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Uslan, Kevin De La Noy and Thomas Tull served as executive producers.

Warner Bros. Pictures presents, in association with Legendary Pictures, a Syncopy Production, a Christopher Nolan film.  “The Dark Knight,” is based upon characters appearing in comic books published by DC Comics.  Batman was created by Bob Kane.  The film is being re-released by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.  It was rated PG-13 for intense sequences of violence and some menace.

he talented actor and husband of Black Panther star, Angela Bassett, did not tiptoe around some questions about the superhero film’s upcoming sequel at Sunday’s 2019 Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Vance, 58, joined his wife on the carpet ahead of Black Panther’s big wins, and the couple spoke with ET’s Nischelle Turner about the importance of the film and the highly anticipated second installment.

When asked if “everybody” would be coming back for the sequel, Bassett replied, “I would assume so.”

Vance quickly cut her off, noting, “Yes, just go ahead and say it, yes! Everyone will be there, including Michael B.”

Michael B. Jordan as “Eric Killmonger”

Michael B. Jordan’s villainous character, Eric Killmonger, seemingly died in the first film, but Bassett, 60, notes, “[We didn’t technically see him] go into the ocean, no.”

Jordan has previously confirmed to ET that director Ryan Coogler will be back for Black Panther 2, adding, “I know nothing else about it!” Could this also mean that even more presumed dead stars will be back after 2018’s epic final scene of Avengers: Infinity War? Possibly. How about including Vance in the MCU?

“Yeah, he could come into Wakanda!” Bassett declared of her husband.

“I just like the way it changed society,” Vance said of the film. “It was all about Wakanda forever. And those kind of films, when they come around you’ve got to lift them up… For me, that movie changed society, so give it what it’s due.”

Bassett agreed, noting, “A movie of this style, it has a hard time. It’s accepted by the audiences, of course it’s a global sensation, all of that, but the award [shows] tend to push them to the side. But it’s such a well-crafted, well-made, beautiful story — big moments, big themes, and I think it’s so utterly worthy.”

Thanks for the spoiler Courtney! We are sure Marvel Studios is going to change some things around at this point thanks to this news. We also doubt he will make an appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since he cannot keep his mouth shut. Then again, there’s always room for him in Wakanda, he’s no “colonizer.”

Plastic Man definitely is a popular hero, being a member of the Justice League and for awhile had his own cartoon series. The film will be written by Amanda Idoko, an up and coming writer in the film industry. She has worked as a staff writer on The Mayor,  a short-lived ABC series starring Brandon Michael Hall as a hip-hop artist who becomes the mayor of his city. There is no news on what Amanda’s take on the character will be but it is expected to be an action-comedic piece in line with the nature of the character and his rather silly overtones.

We have to say we are really glad Warner Bros./DC Comics is moving towards expanding the DC Cinematic Universe with new heroes. There is another Justice League movie set in the next few years and we may see an expanded line up if characters like Shazam, Batgirl, Supergirl, and Plastic Man join Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Cyborg, and Aquaman. They will definitely need the help if they are going after Darkseid (think Marvel’s Thanos, but bigger, gray, more evil, and with eye beams that can disintegrate anything)!
