The Dior “saddle” bag made its debut almost twenty years ago when Dior’s creative director at the time, John Galliano, sent them down his spring 2001 runway.

The bag immediately began popping up on every hot young celebrity’s arm and most famously by the world’s favorite writer Carrie Bradshaw on Sex and the City.  Thanks to people like Paris Hilton, Beyonce, and Nicole Richie the bag was an instant success. Galliano had single handedly ushered in the era of the “It” bag. It’s unique shape guaranteed that it could nestle comfortably in the armpit and, at it’s peak, you could find it in an array of colors, prints, and fabrics.

Since becoming Dior’s creative director in 2016, Maria Grazia Chiuri has revisited and recreated many of the things that made Dior a success in years past.  The archives of Christian Dior has been her best friend, however, she loves to reference Mr Galliano. Who can blame her? John Galliano was able to take a sleepy old fashion house like Christian Dior and make it cool again. For her fall 2018 collection, Chiuri decided it was time to resurrect an old friend.  As models strutted down the runway, fashion insiders were treated to the new age saddle bags.

How exciting, was all i could think as I began to recall the popularity of these bags from so long ago. As luck would have it, the new creative director for Dior’s men’s division, Kim Jones, gave the saddle bags a masculine edge when he presented his own versions for the men’s spring 19 collection.

Jones presented an array of different looks such as small coin purses as well as backpacks. I can’t wait to see these stunners in the street to see how people interpret the style. The shape will forever be timeless so there will always be a need for them.

Fall in love with denim this fall with these amazing ways to rock it this season!

Denim has been an American fashion staple since the beginning of time. From a classic pair of denim boyfriend jeans to a fitted jean skirt, this textile has definitely made it’s mark in the world of fashion. With this blazing summer coming to an end, it’s time to pull out those jean jackets and button-ups and slay all fall! We promise that with these tips, you’ll be sure be the baddest thing walking this season.

First thing’s first, you’ve got to find the right wash for the mood you want to set for the day/night. When it comes to choosing a denim wash, remember this: the lighter the jeans, the more “casually chic” your look reads. A lighter wash tends to make for a relaxed, yet stylish vibe. A darker wash makes more of a edgy statement in the colder months. It reads sleek and chic during the fall months. An indigo or a black denim pair of jeans give off a cooler and more stylish approach.

The fall is also the perfect time for the “denim on denim” trend. For example, try wearing a blouse paired with a stylish pair of denim flare-legged jeans, or a cute denim jumpsuit and a jean jacket. Or maybe you want to really elevate one of your dresses by adding a denim button-up to it, like we styled Angel Love photographed above. Also with boot season vastly approaching, take advantage of your denim jeans this season by pairing them with your favorite pair of boots.

Fashion is all about exploration and expression. The fall was made specifically for the fashion lovers. We say this because it’s the one season out of the year where we can really express. It’s also the season we can wear all the fabrics and garments we want without melting or freezing. When it comes to rocking denim in the fall, it’s a MUST!

To many, his presence is a breath of fresh air. Never before have we seen a black model with his style and flare for fashion,. With all of his newfound success, it would be easy to call him an “It boy” in the making, however he is way more than that.

Mason was no stranger to the public eye what with a former model for a mother and former pro basketball player for a father.  His life was spent on the road touring Europe before settling in Arizona. A meeting with choreographer Laurieanne Gibson resulted in him dancing background for P. Diddy. This opportunity lead to him being signed to a modeling agency in 2017. As his modeling career ascended he started to become known for his signature walk as well as his impeccable street style. Mason’s ability to always look professionally styled has not gone unnoticed to fashion critics.  The 6 foot 2 style star has a constant presence on street style sites as well as fashion magazines.

In 2019 Mason graced the covers of many mainstream fashion magazines such Vogue Brazil to L’Officiel Homme. His April cover of V Magazine alongside singer Lizzo brought his face to the masses, which will no doubt result in bigger and better opportunities.  It’s hard to believe that a black male model is only just now appealing to the mainstream, however, one can only hope that this is only the beginning.

“Transcending!” Strike a “Pose” For FASHION!

Since its’ 2018 debut, the FX drama, Pose, has managed to bring the world of ballroom culture into the mainstream all while maintaining an elusiveness that keeps you longing for more.
It’s hard to ignore the irony when you ponder how a show about trans women in the late 80’s could become so successful during a time that seems to be filled with hate and prejudice. Call it what you will, there’s no denying the impact Pose has had on society as a whole. Never in history have we seen such an embrace of inclusiveness, especially considering the consequences one could face back in the day for even appearing to cross dress.  The stars from Pose have benefited generously from this newfound inclusivity.

Indya Moore PoseIndya Moore Pose

The beautiful bohemian turned glamour girl, Indya Moore, has had a meteoric rise in the world of high fashion. At the top of the year it was announced that Moore would be recruited for Louis Vuitton’s Pre -fall ’19 campaign. The fashion house would then utilize her for their B Blossom Jewelry collection campaign as well as host for their fashion show in March. Her cover of Elle Magazine’s June issue was one for the history books as it marked the first time a trans woman had graced their cover.

MJ ROdriguez PoseDominique Jackson Pose

Not to be excluded, house mothers (of the House of Abundance/Wintour and House of Evangelista respectfully) MJ Rodriguez and Dominique Jackson have also been blessed by the fashion gods. In 2018, it was announced that Rodriguez would take part in Moschino’s campaign for their collaboration with H&M. The ads were seen everywhere from the pages of the most prestigious fashion magazines to the billboards in Time Square. Dominique Jackson is the latest of the trio to land a fashion campaign. Fashion house, Valentino, recruited the actress to star in their latest campaign for their new VSLING handbags. In the series of video clips, Jackson plays the part of an outspoken woman named Devoray,  who is auditioning for the role as face for the Valentino campaign. Pose director, Janet Mock, can also be seen in the clips alongside Luke Gillford heading the auditions. Jackson is so charming and equally beautiful that it’s hard not to crack a smile.

So what can we hope to take away from all of this? A leggy blonde once said “In fashion, one day you’re in and the next day you’re out.” If that’s true we can only hope that this display of inclusivity is not something that is simply in fashion. The time of inclusion is now and it is up to fashion houses to get on board with the acceptance that trans people aren’t just a trend or an article in the back of a magazine. As the Pose girls continue to bust down barriers,  the naysayers should take a look around , relent their old fashioned views and embrace the fact that the world is forever changed.
