It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon at Salon Moraee in Lindbergh, a number of Atlanta’s flyest and finest citizens waited in anticipation for the debut collection from Yovanna Momplaisir.

Before the show, party-goers relaxed to the sounds of DJ Che Mack while sipping on any of the many different flavors of “Moskato,” a line of flavored moscatos, from the Moskato bar. Through the window everyone could feast their eyes on the models posing outside in their swimsuits. I was so busy soaking in the atmosphere  of gorgeous glittering Atlanta socialites that I hardly realized the show was starting.

Indeed what a show it was!  The red carpet was hosted by our very own Michael “Hey Mikey” Fanning. The first round of looks were the swimsuits we saw on the models earlier. Every model was pleasantly chic in their barely there swimsuits, which were accessorized with Momplaisir sunglasses. It was to everyone’s delight that the looks also featured hair pins that read “That Bitch”. This phrase, as we all know was made famous by Momplaisir on The Real Housewives of Atlanta. The ready to wear portion of the show was the icing on the cake.

The collection was tailor made for a woman on the go who works hard, but plays even harder. Everything from beautiful jumpsuits and formal gowns to the more casual logo tees and jeans, all possessed a sophistication held only by experts in the world of fashion. The pink looks sprinkled throughout were easy and flawless, with a few of the looks being accentuated by her Momplaisir fedoras. (You can see footage from the fashion on our CEO’s, Michael “Hey Mikey” Fanning’s IG @HeyMikeyATL)

The climax of the show, of course, came at the end when Ms. Yovanna Momplaisir herself made her entrance during the finale. Her silver sequined blazer dress guaranteed she held all of the attention, and rightfully so. What better way to capitalize on such a classic moment in television history? I can see this collection being rocked by any and everyone. K. Daniel Talent produced an amazing event! Once everything was said and done, and I said my goodbyes, I left the party feeling like I had truly been a part of something special. Kudos to Yovanna and her team!

Next in Fashion is created and produced by theoldschool and is Executive Produced by Robin Ashbrook and Yasmin Shackleton with co-Executive Producer Adam Cooper.

Additional Details:

  • Co-Hosts: Tan France and Alexa Chung

  • Guest Judges: Elizabeth Stewart and Eva Chen are recurring guest judges with additional guest judges to be announced at a later date

  • Executive Producers:  Robin Ashbrook, Yasmin Shackleton and co-executive producer Adam Cooper

Netflix is really moving into a new frontier with its reality series. As you recall, earlier this year the network debuted “Rhythm + Flow,” a music competition series to rave reviews. The magic, however, lies in the qualified judges, and in the case of “Next in Fashion” we definitely trust Tun and Alexa! L Brands, the parent company of the lingerie retailer, has officially canceled the 2019 show. “We’ll be communicating to customers, but nothing that I would say is similar in magnitude to the fashion show,” CFO Stuart Burgdoerfer said during the company’s third quarter earnings call. The brand said the decision was part of a move to “evolve the marketing of Victoria’s Secret.”

“Given the decline in performance at Victoria’s Secret, we have substantially pulled back on capital investment in that business while we focus on ensuring that our merchandise resonates with customers,” L Brands said in its Q3 earnings report.

USA TODAY has reached out to L Brands for comment.

In May, the brand said it would be rethinking the show.

In a statement sent to the company’s associates at the time and obtained by USA TODAY, Les Wexner, CEO of L Brands, the parent company of the lingerie brand, revealed this year’s show is going in a different direction.

Rihanna’s ‘Savage X Fenty’, however, has only grown in popularity and revenue, taking over much of Victoria’s Secrets fan base. Perhaps this is just a blip and the fashion show will return in 2020. Either way the brand is going to have to up the ante to regain its customers. The fashion show really has been on the decline over the years. Yes, we like seeing beautiful women in lingerie and angel wings, but even that gimmick runs out soon. Where is the next level in the fashion of lingerie? Maybe the look of the traditional Victoria’s Secret model needs to be re-imagined. Maybe a thicker woman of color? It is a thought!

Now, per a Forbes breakdown of Rocky’s recent conversation with Summit co-founder Jeff Rosenthal at the Orpheum in Los Angeles, we have more insight on Rocky’s plans for the region following his extended legal battle earlier this year.

“When I was going through my whole situation, the whole time I used to look on television and see Swedish fans showing me so much love and I want to give it back,” Rocky recalled, adding that “most of the proceeds” from performances in the country will be donated to “inmates and prison reformation.”

Forbes also said that Rocky has designed “new wardrobe and uniforms” for Kronobergshäktet, the prison in Sweden where he was held following his arrest this summer.

“I’m trying to do what I can with what I can, I just want to keep creating and encouraging whoever is after me to do it better,” Rocky said.

Elsewhere, Rocky discussed the importance of authenticity in fashion and how his well-documented introduction to psychedelics bettered his life. “They opened my third eye and made me more attuned,” he said. “It was a way to love more, it helped me open up my heart.”

We are glad to see Rocky has been able to make the most out of this situation, and earn some coins in return. Perhaps this is one of those situations where everything happens for a reason.
