Marvel Phase 4  has been announced at San Diego Comic Con and we are ecstatic! The next phase of the latest set of Marvel films introduces us to five new series on Disney’s upcoming streaming service, Disney+, a new Blade, as Mahershalah Ali has been cast in the role of the half-vampire superhero, sequels to Captain Marvel, Black Panther, Doctor Stranger, Guardians of The Galaxy, and Thor, movies based on The Eternals, Black Widow, Shang-Chi, and the Fantastic Four, and mutants finally joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

The blerd in us is screaming at the above mentioned news as even more superheroes are coming to the screen. The Disney+ shows will feature shows based on Hawkeye, Captain America & Falcon, Loki, The Scarlet Witch & Vision (WandaVision), and What If? The latter will be animated and is based off the line of Marvel Comics of the same name showing what would happen if certain heroes or villains made other decisions in events, instead of what we originally saw play out.

The news of Mahershalah’s casting as Blade is genius. He has the look, build, and acting chops to be the vampire bad ass we grew to know and love in the late nineties and early 2000s. His inclusion with Doctor Strange shows Marvel is definitely including the supernatural and more magic in their roster. This is not Mahershalah’s first bout in the MCU, however, as he portrayed the crime lord, Cottonmouth in Netflix’s Luke Cage during its first season. In other casting news for Marvel, Natalie Portman has been cast as the female Thor! As you may recall, a couple of years ago in the comics Thor became unworthy to wield Mjolnir and Jane Foster (Natalie’s character, and Thor’s original love interest) was worthy and became the new Thor! This should all play out in Thor: Love & Thunder! Perhaps there will be a love triangle between he, Valkyrie, and Jane–if the former is not cast completely as a lesbian, but bisexual instead.

We are not surprised to hear that Captain Marvel, Black Panther, Doctor Stranger, Guardians of The Galaxy, and Thor are getting sequels. Each of these characters are now headliners in the MCU, especially with the retirement of Captain America (Steve Rogers) and the demise of Iron Man and Black Widow in Avengers: Endgame. Black Widow’s standalone film will be a prequel and The Eternals is a new film altogether that may explain Thanos’ origins and introduce us to characters like Mentor (Thanos’ father), Eros (Thanos’ brother), and Sersi. The latter two are know Avengers in the comics.

x-men and fantastic four

Perhaps the most anticipated news of the new phase is the mention of the Fantastic Four being introduced, along with the introduction of mutants. Retconning the Fantastic Four’s origins and adding them to the MCU should be easy. The mutants, however, are a different thing. Even if mutants are just now being discovered, how do we explain older mutants like Wolverine, Magneto, and Professor X sitting out the cataclysms the Avengers have protected the world from? All in all, we are so excited about the future of the MCU! What do you guys think? Sound off in the comments section below.

In a Today interview shared Sunday, the star of this year’s The Lighthouse was asked about taking on the role in the upcoming 2021 Matt Reeves film. When host Willie Geist used the word “superhero” to describe the beloved DC character, Pattinson was quick to politely correct that characterization.

“Batman’s not a superhero,” he said, laughing. “It’s weird. I always balk at it. I’m like, it doesn’t count. You need to have, like, magical powers to be a superhero.”

It is fair to say Batman is not “super” in the sense of having powers, however his training, skills, genius level intellect, and arsenal have made him a powerful rival and sometimes adversary of incredibly powerful superheroes like Superman and Wonder Woman. Saying Batman is not a superhero negates the nigh superhuman abilities of superheroes like Iron Man, Black Widow, Captain America, Green Arrow, Hawkeye, Nightwing, the Batman Family, and Green Hornet.

What do you all think? Do you consider The Dark Knight a superhero or no? Sound off in the comments section below!

Shelley Morrison, who played the beloved Rosario on Will & Grace, died Sunday morning at age 83, EW has confirmed. She was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles for heart failure after a brief illness. AP first reported her passing.

Morrison starred as Rosario Salazar, Karen Walker’s (Megan Mullally) maid on the first run of Will & Grace. Hailing from El Salvador, Rosario (known as Rosie) had a contentious yet loving relationship with Karen. The popular character appeared in 68 episodes of the comedy but was not featured in the revival, with Morrison declining to return after retiring from acting.

“Shelley’s greatest pride as an actress was in playing the indomitable Rosario, in a comedy series that furthered the cause of social equity and fairness for LGBTQ people,” her publicist, Lori DeWaal, told EW. “She also took pride in portraying a strong, loving yet feisty Latina character. She believed that the best way to change hearts and minds was through comedy.”

“Rosario is one of my all-time favorite characters,” Morrison said recently, according to the AP. “She reminds me a lot of my own mother, who loved animals and children, but she would not suffer fools. It is very significant to me that we were able to show an older, Hispanic woman who is bright and smart and can hold her own.”

Debra Messing, Eric McCormack, and Megan Mulally who starred as Grace Adler, Will Truman, and Karen, respectively, on the show offered their condolences on social media Sunday.

Besides her work on Will & Grace, Shelley had a career that spanned decades. She appeared in many episodes of The Flying Nun as “Sister Sixto,” as well as The Rookies, LaredoCourthouse, and more. In the world of movies, she was featured in films like Three Guns for Texas, Funny Girl with Barbara Streisand, Troop Beverly Hills with Shelley Long, and the 1997 infamous romantic comedyFools Rush In, starring Salma Hayek and Matthew Perry.  Born Rachel Mitrani in New York City’s Bronx borough in 1936, Morrison’s first language was Spanish. She often portrayed Latina characters on screen but was featured in roles of various backgrounds.

We are really praying for her family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time. Rest in peace Shelley, you were loved and will be missed.

“Other news organizations already started a deeper dive into the history of the show and Simon and NBC tying it into Matt Lauer, etc. The NBC News group has multiple lawsuits. Ronan Farrow and some other journalists have been reporting.”

As we previously reported, NBC sources exclusively told lovebscott.com that Gabrielle Union’s firing came as a result of her speaking up about ‘problematic’ situations.

NBC reached out to lovebscott.com in the wake of the initial allegations and provided the following statement on behalf of the network and Fremantle:

“America’s Got Talent has a long history of inclusivity and diversity in both our talent and the acts championed by the show. The judging and host line-up has been regularly refreshed over the years and that is one of the reasons for AGT’s enduring popularity. NBC and the producers take any issues on set seriously.”

When asked about the internal / external investigation, NBC declined to comment.

All we can say is this is a lot–a whole lot. We really hate that Gabrielle was fired from the show after speaking out about serious issues of racism and sexism. We would hope that somehow her job can be reinstated or she can make a move onto another NBC project. One way or another, with so many news organizations investigating this story the truth–the real truth–will come out! We will keep you posted as this story continues to develop.
