Colorism, as defined by Dictionary.com, is “prejudice or discrimination against individuals with a dark skin tone, typically among people of the same ethnic or racial group.” This prejudice pervades the world and affects almost every ethnic group in the world. However, in the African-American community it has had serious psychological and emotional issues. It seems Black celebrities are not immune to this either as Mathew Knowles, Beyonce’s father and former manager states that have Beyonce’s career has benefited from her lighter skin tone, while her former group mate and best friend, Kelly Rowlan’s has suffered from her darker skin tone.

In the interview with “The Clay Cane Show” on SiriusXM Urban View, Knowles said he taught a college class that did its own research study on “colorism” in music spanning a period of 15 years and found that, “overwhelmingly,” light-skinned black women fared better than darker-toned divas, especially at Top 40 radio. Among the beneficiaries of the perceived bias cited by Knowles or Cane were Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj and Beyonce.

“In the music industry there’s still segregation,” said Knowles. “Programmers, especially at pop radio, have this imagery of what beauty looks like. … If you look back even at Whitney Houston, if you look at those photos, how they lightened her to make her look lighter-complexioned … Because there’s a perception and a colorism: the lighter that you are, the smarter and more economically (advantaged)… There’s a perception all around the world about color — even with black folks, there’s a perception.”

Asked by Cane if that prejudice toward lighter tones had any impact on Beyonce’s career, Knowles said, “I think she would have had — I think it would’ve affected her success. And I use Kelly Rowland as an example. She’s a great example. But you know, the great thing is, Kelly did exceptional outside of America, especially in Australia. Kelly sold over 4 million records. She just got off-script.”

Rowland has addressed the issue in the past. In 2013, in an interview with Cnikky.com, she acknowledge a period of insecurity about her look — even as it was coveted by many of her fans and admirers — and said, “You know what, I had great women in my life to help me overcome that. I remember I went through a period where I didn’t embrace my ‘chocolatiness.’” Rowland attributed her change of attitude in part to a conversation with Beyonce’s mother, Tina Knowles.

Mathew’s point of view, although disheartening, is not “new new.” Colorism is very much so still a part of an issue affecting African-Americans. It seems no matter how “woke” we currently are there are still issues in our own community to overcome and work through. Black is beautiful in every shade!

According to new legal docs … Cosby’s claims about unfair testimony in the Andrea Constand case were ruled invalid. Cosby felt the testimony from 5 other women was bogus because their allegations were more than 15 years old, and too different from Constand’s allegations.

The appellate court ruled the testimony from the women was warranted because it established Cosby’s “unique sexual assault playbook” … and spells out exactly what it was.

According to the docs … Cosby would target women substantially younger than him, invite them to hang out, get them to trust him because of his celebrity status, ply them with intoxicants and then sexually assault them while they were not fully conscious.

The appellate court ruled the trial court in Cosby’s case did nothing wrong, and the testimony established the disgraced comedian’s predictable pattern of behavior.

The court also rejected additional arguments by Cosby, including his long-held stance that he had a deal with the D.A. not to prosecute him.

We really hate all of this is happening. However, sexual assault is never okay and no one should be above the law when it comes to something this sickening, especially. We love what Bill Cosby once represented and meant to an entire generation and the lives he has affected in positive ways, but it does not dismiss any heinous acts he committed.

Kenya Moore said a while ago that she wants to help families have babies if they struggle with infertility. She’s doing something in this direction, and she became the ambassador for Baby Quest Grants.

She just shared a post on her social media account in which she’s telling her fans and followers how they can help as well. Check it out below.

‘@babyquestgrants is the miracle a lot of families need to have their miracle babies. Not everyone can afford to pay $10,000 to $100,000 for IVF, surrogates, egg harvesting, etc. As an ambassador, I’m personally sponsoring a family hopefully two—-God willing. Please help me help other families,’ Kenya began the caption of her post.

‘Bottom line it costs A LOT of money to battle infertility, and health insurance in America doesn’t pay for assisted reproduction. Please help today. This is a non-profit any amount will help. #givingtuesday #babyquestgrants #ivf #miraclebaby Go to @babyquestgrants now to donate.’ Kenya captioned her post.

We are really glad to see Kenya lending her platform for a great cause. Infertility is an issue that effects millions of couples around the world, and most people cannot afford their own miracle babies. Being a parent is one of life’s greatest joys, this is a really good look on you Kenya!

In a Today interview shared Sunday, the star of this year’s The Lighthouse was asked about taking on the role in the upcoming 2021 Matt Reeves film. When host Willie Geist used the word “superhero” to describe the beloved DC character, Pattinson was quick to politely correct that characterization.

“Batman’s not a superhero,” he said, laughing. “It’s weird. I always balk at it. I’m like, it doesn’t count. You need to have, like, magical powers to be a superhero.”

It is fair to say Batman is not “super” in the sense of having powers, however his training, skills, genius level intellect, and arsenal have made him a powerful rival and sometimes adversary of incredibly powerful superheroes like Superman and Wonder Woman. Saying Batman is not a superhero negates the nigh superhuman abilities of superheroes like Iron Man, Black Widow, Captain America, Green Arrow, Hawkeye, Nightwing, the Batman Family, and Green Hornet.

What do you all think? Do you consider The Dark Knight a superhero or no? Sound off in the comments section below!
