2018 is definitely turning out to be quite the year for Tisha Campbell-Martin. Not only is there an alleged Martin reboot in the works, she also has new music out, is divorcing her husband, Duane Martin, and is now BOOKED for a new ABC drama!

Apparently the new series will center on two African-American sisters who happen to also be police officers! Just as interesting is that the pilot comes from show runners, Pam Veasey, Robin Roberts, and Regina King.

Written by Veasey with King set to direct, the drama explores the lives of five African-American sisters, all officers in the NYPD, as they face the challenges of their high-risk jobs while juggling the responsibilities of marriage, motherhood and family.

Campbell-Martin will play Sgt. Anise Kendrick-Morrison, a witty, tough and outspoken patrol officer with a sharp sense of humor. She is immensely proud of her family, especially her four sisters in the NYPD. The first to join the force, she proudly patrols her own childhood neighborhood in Queens.

Campbell-Martin most recently starred as Simone Biles’ mother in the Biles biopic Courage to Soar, which aired on Lifetime this month. The pilot role also marks a return to ABC for Campbell-Martin, who starred as Damona on both seasons of Dr. Ken and as Janet opposite Damon Wayans on all five seasons of My Wife & Kids.

All we can say is YOU GO GIRL! Tisha is doing some really big things and we are very happy for her. She is really showing these younger actresses what it is all about! We definitely need her good friend and former co-star, Tichina Arnold, to make some kind of an appearance though! Cher asked it, but Tisha knows it–there really is life after love! What do you guys think of Tisha Campbell-Martin’s latest venture? will you be tuning in? Sound off in the comments’ section below!

“with a closed fist to the face.”

Kevin Jr. then got closer to his dad before he pushed him, which resulted in a scuffle.

The redacted report obtained reads,

“Kevin [Jr.] then stated that he called [redacted] a ‘b****,’ which caused [redacted] to approach him in an aggressive manner and started pointing [redacted] finger very close to his face. [Kevin] Jr. then admitted to pushing [redacted], which caused them to start wrestling with one another.”

Kevin Sr. has insisted that he didn’t punch his son. But it was Kevin Jr. who was taken into custody for domestic violence simple assault. This all happened outside of a Krauszer’s Food Stores located in West Orange, NJKevin Jr. also refused to receive medical treatment.

Williams was not present at the time. But it might be safe to say the drama between the Kevins makes her emotional. She cried when a reporter asked her how her son and her soon-to-be ex-husband were doing (after he thought a man next to Williams was Kevin Jr.)

“Please don’t ask about Kevin. We have an 18-year-old son and I’m sensitive to that. But that is not Kevin. Young Kevin and I are fine… Big [Kevin]… Godspeed… You know, stuff happens in life. Stuff happens. And it’s okay. I’ve still got a very full life that I’ve really endured. Please don’t make me cry… Oh my gosh… I didn’t plan on this but it was what it was… I have a very full life. I would ask you to respect our privacy but please I don’t respect people’s privacy… But all three of us are doing fine.”

She said everyone will see the three of them together again considering Kevin Jr. has major life events coming up like graduating from college in a couple of years. She also spoke on the drama between the Kevins.

“They’re not apart.”

We are praying for Wendy and her family. This is clearly painful for her and the strain that all of this is placing her on family and health has been apparent.

Colorism, Much? Mathew Knowles Says Beyonce’s Career Benefited from Lighter Skin, While Kelly Rowland’s Suffered…

Colorism, as defined by Dictionary.com, is “prejudice or discrimination against individuals with a dark skin tone, typically among people of the same ethnic or racial group.” This prejudice pervades the world and affects almost every ethnic group in the world. However, in the African-American community it has had serious psychological and emotional issues. It seems Black celebrities are not immune to this either as Mathew Knowles, Beyonce’s father and former manager states that have Beyonce’s career has benefited from her lighter skin tone, while her former group mate and best friend, Kelly Rowlan’s has suffered from her darker skin tone.

In the interview with “The Clay Cane Show” on SiriusXM Urban View, Knowles said he taught a college class that did its own research study on “colorism” in music spanning a period of 15 years and found that, “overwhelmingly,” light-skinned black women fared better than darker-toned divas, especially at Top 40 radio. Among the beneficiaries of the perceived bias cited by Knowles or Cane were Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj and Beyonce.

“In the music industry there’s still segregation,” said Knowles. “Programmers, especially at pop radio, have this imagery of what beauty looks like. … If you look back even at Whitney Houston, if you look at those photos, how they lightened her to make her look lighter-complexioned … Because there’s a perception and a colorism: the lighter that you are, the smarter and more economically (advantaged)… There’s a perception all around the world about color — even with black folks, there’s a perception.”

Asked by Cane if that prejudice toward lighter tones had any impact on Beyonce’s career, Knowles said, “I think she would have had — I think it would’ve affected her success. And I use Kelly Rowland as an example. She’s a great example. But you know, the great thing is, Kelly did exceptional outside of America, especially in Australia. Kelly sold over 4 million records. She just got off-script.”

Rowland has addressed the issue in the past. In 2013, in an interview with Cnikky.com, she acknowledge a period of insecurity about her look — even as it was coveted by many of her fans and admirers — and said, “You know what, I had great women in my life to help me overcome that. I remember I went through a period where I didn’t embrace my ‘chocolatiness.’” Rowland attributed her change of attitude in part to a conversation with Beyonce’s mother, Tina Knowles.

Mathew’s point of view, although disheartening, is not “new new.” Colorism is very much so still a part of an issue affecting African-Americans. It seems no matter how “woke” we currently are there are still issues in our own community to overcome and work through. Black is beautiful in every shade!

YIKES! Lindsay Lohan Loses Her MTV Show & Night Club!

Just when we thought actress Lindsay Lohan was on the set up for a comeback, it looks like fate has other plans. Apparently not only has her MTV show, Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club, been canceled, but her nightclub, Mykonos, which served as the backdrop of the series has also been closed.

Just when we thought actress Lindsay Lohan was on the set up for a comeback, it looks like fate has other plans. Apparently not only has her MTV show, Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club, been canceled, but her nightclub in Mykonos, Greece which served as the backdrop of the series, has also been closed.

The club opened in May 2018, and the show — which follows its staff’s daily lives — premiered in January to decent ratings.

But viewership then plummeted amid less-than-stellar reviews. The Hollywood Reporter called the show “vapid and tedious.”

“There was a renewal idea that producers hoped would perk it up for a second season,” said a source close to the production. “It would be turned into a show about Lindsay and [her mother] Dina and [sister] Ali, [but] that wasn’t going to happen.”

The show didn’t have “enough drama,” the source added. “They wanted ‘breakdowns.’ That’s not where [Lohan] is at with her life anymore. Their personal business doesn’t need to be aired on television; it’s already in the papers anyway.”

Another source close to the network said it’s still trying to salvage the show.

Meanwhile, a phone number listed for the Mykonos club on TripAdvisor wasn’t working when Page Six attempted to call.

Another number listed on the club’s website connected to Lohan Nightclub in Athens.

A source told us of the apparently defunct Mykonos club: “A friend had reservations this week, and the club just called and said that they will not be opening this season.”

Another source vacationing in Greece last month told us that the club wasn’t open then, either.

“The locals said it was a waste [of time to go],” said the vacationer.

A social media commenter posted last month of the Mykonos club: “They advertised being open for [the] summer season, specifically late May. We drove past and it’s literally [deserted] .?.?. The Lohan sign is stripped off.”

A Lohan rep confirmed that “she is not doing another season” of the show.

We wonder if Lindsay has any other ventures in the works. Lately it seems like she has really been trying to get her life back on track. Honestly, we are rooting for her!
